Dark Star skins coming for Jhin, Karma, and Shaco in League
Riot Games has revealed glimpses of three new League of Legends skins that are currently on the Public Beta Environment, the version of the game that is not live but where the majority of things to come are tested and tuned for release.
The next champions that will gain these new skins are Jhin, Karma, and Shaco.
The new skins are in the “Dark Star” theme. In this set of skins, the champions are transformed to look like evil cosmic beings worshipping the Dark Star deity. This line of skins has been one of the more popular and gives dark, cosmic effects to all abilities of the featured champions, as well as to their recall animations.
The effect of Jhin’s ultimate “Curtain Call” sets a stunning starscape with a black hole onto the map for the shots to cross, and is a particularly impressive visual addition to the game.
With “Dark Star” Shaco, the champion will leave the growing “1000 Day List,” meaning he had not had a new skin for at least one thousand days. With League of Legends being a free-to-play game, it makes its profit in large part through the sale of skins. While it makes sense to make skins for the most popular champions, some players are aggrieved at their favorite champions can be left in the cold for so long.
Earlier this year Riot released “Dark Star Cho’gath” and donated 100% of its purchase price to charity. It raised over $6.1 million for a range of charities and secured players the “Golden Halo Award,” North America’s highest award for the recognition of marketing efforts for causes in charitable fundraising.
The skins do not currently have a release date or an estimate as to what they will cost, and they will remain on the PBE until they are released with a later patch.
