Streamer Yugi apologizes to Valkyrae after making her cry, here's what happened

Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter is involved in streamer drama with Rudy “Yugi” Arzu, after the latter content creator made the 100 Thieves co-owner cry during a game of Among Us.
Valkyrae is one of the more popular female streamers in the industry, with a large and loyal fan following. The streamer is regularly in the news for various reasons, which is something that comes with a streamer of her popularity and clout. She recently faced an issue with a stalker and had to cancel the Twitch marathon stream, which sparked a broader discussion on streamer safety during in-person streams. Now, Valkyrae is in the news again, and this time it’s for drama involving fellow streamer Yugi that occurred live during a game in an experience that led Valkyrae to break down in tears.
What caused drama between Valkyrae and Yugi?
Drama came about Yugi continuously poked fun at Valkyrae’s age during a livestream involving the two streamers, hurting her feelings and leading her to break down crying.
During a stream, Yugi took a dig at Valkyrae’s age and asked the streamer to “not retire any time soon.” Rae retaliated by stating that she could buy Yugi’s “entire bloodline.” Yugi didn’t stop there with the age jokes, and some viewers later put forward that the streamer’s treatment was akin to his bullying Valkyrae on stream. Eventually, things got to be too much for Valkyrae, and tears started rolling down her face.

Valyrae tried to hide the fact that she was crying, likely to avoid drama among the streamers, but attentive viewers noticed something amiss. The streamer turned off her camera and mic, but she wasn’t fast enough, and her chat quickly realized that Rae was sobbing. Valkyrae requested her fans not be mean to Yugi in retaliation and tried her best to diffuse the situation. Despite that, the situation has blown up and turned something that needed resolving afterwards.
Valkyrae discussed the situation in the Among Us livestream, and the content creator stated that she has been dealing with mocking over her age ever since she turned 30. The streamer elaborated that while such jokes may have been funny to her the first time, they got old fast. She even claimed that such jokes could be related to power dynamics, and that someone like Yugi might feel better validated by belittling a successful woman by talking about her more advanced age.
Why did Yugi apologize to Valkyrae?
Yugi apologized to Valkyrae for repeatedly joking about her age during live on stream and stated that he “should’ve known better.”
Yugi claimed he was “brought up in a different way” and assumed he “could be himself” while the two were streaming together. While Yugi has tried to make things right with his apology, fans and viewers remain divided on the situation. Each streamer’s fans are supporting their preferred content creator.
Valkyrae’s fans are angry at Yugi because they claim that the streamer isn’t close to Rae, so the jokes about her age weren’t likely to be taken in the way he apparently expected. They also discussed how he consistently referred to her as “Rachell,” which the streamer dislikes. Yugi’s fans think of him a comedian and a generally funny personality who shouldn’t need to mute his behavior while streaming live, and in their view, Valkyrae just couldn’t handle some relatively harmless jokes that came her way.
