Could You Can See Everything Actually Win Best Picture?
Critics are calling You Can See Everything a genre-transcending movie, with some even proclaiming it one of the most important films ever. Does that mean it can win the Oscar’s Best Picture when a documentary has never even received a nomination for that award?
You Can See Everything surges into the conversation
There has been some chatter about You Can See Everything sneaking into the Best Picture category at the Academy Awards. But if you ask Polymarket traders, it doesn’t just deserve a nomination. It might deserve to win the award.

Polymarket traders predict the Best Picture.
It’s still The Odyssey’s award to lose, but momentarily, You Can See Everything was right there with it. On October 6, You Can See Everything was 0.5% ahead of The Odyssey. Since then, it has dropped. However, with a wider release in the last two weeks, it is surging again. After October 6, it dropped to 1.1%, and
it has climbed up to nearly 29% now — a substantial change in the implied probability.
Why it’s even being considered
There is a dedicated documentary section at the Oscars. However, this isn’t like the Best International Feature category — those movies can and often do infiltrate the Best Picture section. They are movies, and they can be good enough to rank among the best 10. It doesn’t happen hardly ever, but they can win, too (see Parasite).
This is totally different, though. Because the documentary format is very different from a feature film format, there has nen3ver even been a nomination for a documentary. They have always been restricted solely to their own category.
That’s what has made You Can See Everything so fascinating. It seems to transcend its format, and the reviews are so unfathomably good that it’s impossible to ignore it in the conversation about the best 10 pictures this year.
On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a 97% Critic Score and a 97% Audience Score. On IMDb, it’s at a 9.3/10. The best movie on IMDb is The Shawshank Redemption with a 9.3. It doesn’t qualify, but You Can See Everything would rank in the top five all-time on Letterboxd with its 4.6 average (down from what was, at one point, an impossible 4.8).
☑️ My Take
After seeing the movie, I can totally understand the hype and the reason the movie is getting so much Best Picture buzz. It is one of the best and most important movies of the year, certainly. For that, it deserves a historic nomination.
But it probably shouldn’t win. There’s something intrinsically different about a documentary, even a transcendent one. Plus, even just comparing films, it’s not quite
as good as The Odyssey. The first half of You Can See Everything meanders around for a bit before truly locking in, so it isn’t quite Best Picture material.
That said, a nomination would be well-deserved, and it’s no surprise it’s getting love on this prediction market so soon after release.

How Will The Upcoming Clayface Movie Be Received?
Zachary Roberts
Clayface is the latest film in the DCU, and it's the second DC Comics movie exploring a villain's origin story. Like Joker before it, this horror movie will primarily explore the titular villain without connecting it back to Batman. That is always a risk, as the Joker movies did fine, but the Venom movies on the Marvel side did not. But how will this one do? We recently looked at ...

As the New Street Fighter Movie Releases, How Will It Do on Rotten Tomatoes?
Zachary Roberts
A brand-new Street Fighter movie has just hit movie theaters. This isn't the first attempt to adapt this particular game. In 1994, there was a poorly received attempt, much like other attempts at adapting video games during that era. That movie got an abysmal 20% critic score. Astonishingly, the fans agreed at 20%, which rarely happens. This movie, in other words, was enjoyed by very few. Will the new adaptation ...

The Odyssey came out in July, and it somehow delivered on all the hype and anticipation that Christopher Nolan's latest film had. Will that translate to Oscars?
