You Can Now Trade on Pokémon Card Prices With Kalshi
Kalshi now offers traders the chance to trade on Pokémon card prices. The popular prediction market has plenty of available options, ranging from general news to elections. Traders can make predictions on weather, video games, and plenty more. Now, the value of Pokémon cards — one of the hobby’s most hotly debated topics — has joined the platform, with users able to trade prediction contracts on future prices

Kalshi has a section for collectibles and in it are now several Pokémon card-related markets. A quick search on the prediction market yields quite a few wide-ranging markets for traders:
- Ascended Heroes ETB Value
- 151 Ultra Premium Collection Value
- Charizard ex Value
- Mega Gengar ex Value
- Charmander Value
- Logan Paul’s Pikachu Illustrator Eventual Auction Price
Traders can make predictions on individual cards. Also, they can predict the price change for whole collections, like an Elite Trainer Box or Ultra Premium Collection.
Mascot values, which would include any card with that Pokémon, are available as well.
Many of the markets center on one main prediction: Will the value of XYZ go up this month? For example, this market is for traders to predict whether the price of a Charizard ex card will rise or fall in July. The current value here is set at $422.12. Of course, this will vary across markets.
The values are derived from Collectr, one of the most prominent trading card value sites out there. Collectors can search for their card and find the current value, which is frequently changing.
There are some stipulations for these markets. Kalshi states, “The market resolves based on the first non-preliminary value published by the platform after the time period concludes.” However, if no data is available at that time, the last known value will be used in its place. Editor’s view
The first interesting thing here is that it took so long for Kalshi to add these markets. Pokémon cards are absurdly popular right now, and they’re extremely hard to come by thanks to scalpers. That makes
their values rise and fall pretty often.
A price chart will have peaks and valleys, which is very much like a the

predicition market. The percent chances of anything, be it a Game of the Year award, a cover athlete for a video game, an election, or anything else, clearly can fluctuate wildly.
Ultimately, it makes this a surprisingly perfect foray for Kalshi. Collectors always want to know the value of their cards, and now, they have the opportunity to trade on that value; this can be a new way to engage with the pursuit.
Gamers can trade on whether or not their favorite game will get a high Metacritic score. News enthusiasts can trade on governmental decisions. Movie fans can trade on who the next James Bond can be. Now, card collectors can get in on the action.
