Popular streamer Felix “xQc” Lengyel, who exclusively uses Kick for his gambling and betting streams, will be attempting a sponsored betting broadcast on Twitch to test the platform’s new and seemingly conflicting rules.

Twitch is known for its strict guidelines regarding gambling streams and the type of content that can be shown on the platform. This has caused many content creators, including xQc, to stream gambling content on alternative platforms, primarily Kick. But Twitch recently issued a statement allowing StarLadder Budapest Major CS2 streams on the platform, despite the event having a prominent gambling sponsor.

That allowance is on the basis of a seeming technicality, and xQc has announced that he would follow the same requirements set for StarLadder to attempt a betting stream of his own on Twitch.

How will xQc stream betting on Twitch?

Casino streamer xQc stated he will run his betting stream by hiding a Stake website banner from his browser and displaying only the slot section while streaming on Twitch.

xQc’s reaction comes after Twitch allowing the StarLadder Major its own streams on the platform, provided that its gambling partner is restricted to only physical advertisements, rather than digital promotions that remain banned. The streamer told his chat that if that is what Twitch expects, then he should be able to bet and play on Stake while streaming on the platform, provided he follows the same rules. He elaborated that he would ensure the web browser is cropped so that the digital Stake logo isn’t visible, but he would put up a physical banner in his room with the Stake logo and show that in his stream instead.

xQc’s plan to feature Stake in a Twitch betting stream, according to the platform’s clarified rules, has been met with much excitement from his fans who are eager to see him test Twitch’s limits.

It remains unclear whether xQc could face any punishment from Twitch for such a stream. While the Amazon-backed platform has allowed the upcoming StarLadder Budapest Major streams to proceed, its gambling partner won’t specifically be featured through online casino games. That could be a critical difference in how Twitch interprets xQc’s stream relative to the CS2 major broadcasts. But that difference hasn’t been explicitly outlined in Twich’s rulings thus far.

Twitch tightened restrictions on the streaming of gambling and betting sites several years ago, and Stake was among the platforms that have been largely absent from Twitch since then. While xQc stated that he would avoid showing any digital Stake branding on the stream, even the physical advertisement he plans to display could still lead to repercussions. Twitch’s ruling for the upcoming CS Major may not be a fresh license for any and all casino streamers to broadcast similar streams.

Either way, xQc plans on finding out, and it’s hard to argue with the logic behind his approach. Either he’s able to bring his betting streams to another platform beyond Kick, or Twitch will again have to clarify its own rules. And beyond pressuring Twitch, if the streamer manages to bring his gambling and betting streams to another platform, it has the potential to further contribute to the big numbers that constitute xQc’s net worth.
