Solary

After two weeks of competition, the World Star Challengers Invitational reaches its pinnacle as Solary faces T1 Esports Academy in the grand finals of the event. Solary has dominated DN Soopers Challengers in their semifinals, while T1 Academy made quick work of Galions.

It’s now a battle at the top between the juggernauts of the LFL and of the LCK Challenger League. Here are our predictions for the WSCI grand finals.

Early game against late game

The two teams come into this match with opposed strengths and styles.

T1 Academy got vastly ahead of Galions through the laning phase for most of the series. On the first two maps, GL didn’t even get to play as they fell so far back right away.

Kim “Painter” Eun-hoo could constantly push Francisco “Thayger” Mazo Sánchez out of his jungle because he always had the support of his lanes. The one-time GL did not fall behind, they showed a better teamfighting than T1.EA and won the third game off of it.

On the other hand, Solary always picked losing lanes and sustained through the handicap. Then, they destroyed DNS.C after 20 minutes to defeat them 3-0. In the grand finals, it’s likely that both teams will shift the playstyle around a bit.

Here are some of the best bets for the SLY vs T1.EA WSCI grand finals.

The winning bet is risky, as SLY has more room to change their strategy than T1 Academy does. That being said, Solary has made far more questionable plays in their semifinals than their opponent has. T1 will punish them better than DNS.C did. If they take their second chances for granted, they’ll be in for a rude awakening.

Who will win?

Solary has a way to surprise in the early game. SLY has sacrificed their latest early games because they could afford to. Even then, they stayed relatively close or even ahead of their opponent despite having weaker laning picks.

If they do the same against T1 Academy, they won’t manage to hold on the way they did against DNS.C. However, they demonstrated that they have the skills to be great laners. If they shift their focus to that aspect instead, they can possibly take T1 head on and give them a challenge they don’t expect.

T1.EA doesn’t have the same possibility as their weaknesses don’t result from picks. Galions simply had a better mid-to-late game. As SLY has demonstrated the same teamfighting and macro prowess as GL has, they can rise to the occasion.

☑️ My Verdict: T1.EA’s precision could clutch the win

That being said, Galions made major mistake after major mistake against DNS Challengers. Overchases, teamfight-altering misses, they only kept control over the game because it still remained better than DNS.C’s playstyle. T1.EA has been far more precise than them, so I think that they will win the World Star Challengers Invitational.
