who is xqc

Félix “xQc” Lengyel is one of the most prominent gaming streamers, who is widely recognized by his viral reaction clips — but who exactly is he, and what are the reasons behind his rapid growth in recent years?

xQc is a massively popular streamer who is active on Kick, and offers his opinions about everything, which he isn’t shy about sharing. These opinions and real takes make him relatable, which keeps his fans engaged and his number of followers constantly growing. The streamer initially started his career as a gamer and then transitioned into content creation. Here’s everything to know about xQc, from his initial start to becoming a highly successful streamer.

Initial start in extreme sports and pivot to esports

Many fans wrongly assumed that xQc began his career with Overwatch, but that isn’t the case. He started off making videos on YouTube with a friend. The two posted extreme sports, such as skateboards and snowboards, but eventually stopped, turning their focus to less risky topics.

xQc then appeared on Twitch, posting League of Legends gaming sessions. The streamer had gotten his taste of content creation, and things then went into overdrive when Overwatch was launched. He started to broadcast competitive gaming sessions of the game, and eventually joined DatZit Gaming. This was the first real step towards his goal of becoming an esports player, and xQc won the Overwatch tournament at DreamHack Montreal 2016 during his time with the team.

xQc changed teams multiple times, eventually joining the Dallas Fuel OWL and finally getting into a professional esports team. The player’s time with the Dallas Fuel was marred by suspensions and disciplinary actions from league officials, and he was released from the team, leading to a transition into streaming full-time.

In 2026, xQc claimed that he left the Overwatch esports scene before he apparently found out that the league was viewbotting. This is unverified, but it deviates from the usual belief that xQc was unable to make it as a pro esports player, leading to his streaming career.

xQc’s rise on Twitch

xQc initially maintained gaming sessions while streaming on Twitch, particularly focusing on Minecraft and GTA, but he slowly started to expand and vary his content output. The creator is certainly reactive, and his reaction streams became a highlight of his content. His reaction streams influenced other streams, and xQc also started to broadcast JustChatting content, which was one of the largest contributors to his popularity. His content focused on longer stream durations, where xQc switched between multiple games, reacted to new clips live, and unpredictably engaged with chat. This is when the former esports player actually transitioned into more of a streaming personality.

His shift from gaming content was noticeable, and xQc’s unique entertainment style is why he became so popular. xQc became Twitch’s most-watched streamer for three consecutive years, from 2020 to 2022, getting 274 million views in 2021 alone. Much of his acclaim came from reacting to internet clips and drama, where he gave blunt opinions. xQc also became known for arguing with his chat, while the streamer faced several suspensions from Twitch for varying actions, including copyright claims and his on-stream behavior.

Shift to Kick and gambling content

xQc made the shift to Kick during the livestreaming platform’s initial days, when he was at the peak of his career and popularity. The streamer was offered a reported $100 million deal, which was the contributing factor in his deviating from Twitch. His debut literally crashed the platform, leading to Kick upgrading its servers. He had since established a content norm, but started to broadcast Stake gambling streams. xQc was criticized during this period by many fellow streamers, such as Imane “Pokimane” Anys. Pokimane alleged that xQc started streaming on Kick to make money from gambling, sparking a discussion on moral and ethical issues.

xQc’s deal didn’t force him to stream gambling content, but casino streaming is something the streamer became known for quickly. He broadcast gambling streams at some of the best Bitcoin betting sites, with Stake being a personal favorite. The streamer got financial incentives to make the shift to the Stake-owned livestreaming platform and maintained his loyal viewers. In 2025, xQc became the second English-speaking creator on Kick to hit the 1 million follower mark. He also revealed recently that he is now a slot provider, having developed GIGA Galactic Warrior, which is hosted on Stake.

xQc in 2026

xQc is one of the biggest names in the streaming industry right now, and the creator’s popularity is consistently increasing. His engaging content and unscripted reactive takes resonate with viewers, helping him continue to grow, and he also has a huge net worth in 2026 that is always growing.

The streamer recently revealed his gambling income, which shows that he is firmly one of the most successful streamers in the world. This is at least partly due to his casino content, where he regularly entertains the audience with big wins and unfiltered reactions, leaving his chat going wild.

xQc revealed in 2025 that he has wagered over $3.6 billion with a 90% loss rate on Stake. The Canadian is one of the top-paid gambling streamers, but his career to date has not been without controversy.
