Jason “PirateSoftware” Thor Hall is again in the drama cycle, this time for allegedly censoring other creators with DMCA claims.
PirateSoftware has recently come under fire in the public eye due to back-to-back controversies. Earlier in January 2025, PirateSoftware was kicked from the OnlyFangs guild. OnlyFangs is a streamer-only hardcore World of Warcraft guild that has the likes of Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp, Thomas Chance “Sodapoppin” Morris, and Matthew “Mizkif” Rinaudo among its leadership.
Investigating the PirateSoftware Drama..
As with any streamer-focused organization, there has been a fair amount of internal drama. From the duel between Tyler1 and Sodapoppin to drafting for the first OnlyFangs raid of 2025, January is already off to a hot start. The exit of PirateSoftware from the guild was yet another shakeup fans didn’t expect coming into the new year.
Recently, the streamer has been criticized for allegedly taking down the videos critical of him.
Multiple content creators reported their videos on PirateSoftware have been taken down, though for reasons unrelated to the alleged “DMCA claims.” The initial accusations began after Maltese streamer JokerdTV noticed one of his videos taken down for “Harassment and Cyberbullying.” Upon checking the report on stream, he revealed to chat it was about the PirateSoftware situation.
Quintin “Quin69” Crawford also had his videos on PirateSoftware mass-reported and age-restricted. On stream, Quin69 noted how bizarre the situation was, and has submitted appeals for the videos to be returned to normal. Jokerdtv and Quin69 received support from their fanbase, who believe the takedowns were unjust.
Critics of PirateSoftware levied accusations that he was responsible for “DMCA takedowns.” It should be noted that the video takedowns were not for copyright strikes but for supposedly breaking YouTube’s community guidelines. In any case, the reports allegedly stem from PirateSoftware’s fanbase.
Quin in UTTER DISBELIEF from New PirateSoftware Kicked Drama
Although PirateSoftware has not outwardly confirmed this was the case, the streamer notably made steps to make clipping his content more difficult. PirateSoftware states that only subscribers who have followed for three months or more can post clips from their streams.
The post on r/LivestreamFail of this particular clip came from a follower of PirateSoftware, though they claim they weren’t subscribed. When the post got traction, the original poster claimed to have been permabanned from PirateSoftware’s channel.
The controversy surrounding PirateSoftware led to thousands of viewers unfollowing the creator. Â According to TwitchTracker, PirateSoftware lost over 28,000 followers since the OnlyFangs incident. While the streamer still has a sizeable fanbase, the downward trend reportedly did not please PirateSoftware.
Viewers on Reddit shared a message from PirateSoftware in Twitch chat, wherein the streamer claims to be losing “4-5k subs a day” because of the “insane takes” from other content creators about his channel. While it’s unknown if the downward trend will continue, controversies such as the DMCA filings have soured the streamer for many who want to avoid the drama.
The PirateSoftware situation is still developing, and if the downward trend continues, it could incite more feuds between the fans of these different streamers.
