What To Expect in the Unprecedented Netflix GTA 6 Extended Look
News broke last week that the next confirmed look at GTA 6 would be on Netflix. A natural question arose: what would an extended look on Netflix even entail? Shortly after, it was confirmed by the streamer that the event would be about 20 minutes long, which is far longer than a third trailer would be.
Never before has a video game been marketed through a streaming giant like this. Now Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has commented on the partnership and what viewers can expect.
What the Netflix extended look at GTA 6 will offer
The extended look at GTA 6 is set to stream on Netflix on August 27 at 3 pm ET. The timing of this essentially confirms two things. First, that
there won’t be a traditional third trailer,
breaking with the formula Rockstar used for Red Dead Redemption 2.
Second, the November release date
is almost assuredly not moving. Marketing right before a game releases is crucial, so there likely wouldn’t be such a big, interesting event unless Rockstar was confident that the game would arrive on time, which in this case is November 19.
Zelnick has offered commentary on GTA 6’s release since it was first officially confirmed to be in development in February 2022, and his most recent comments have suggested what fans can expect from this upcoming preview to the game
“I think Rockstar felt that a Netflix release would be a great way to show off the extended trailer,”
he said via IGN. “Six hours later it will be available on Rockstar’s YouTube channel, and I think ultimately on many other outlets. And I think this is an example of Rockstar trying new things and marketing the title, and I hope there’s much more to come.”

He urged those who do not have a subscription to sign up for Netflix so they don’t miss the event. Zelnick wouldn’t confirm details, however. He added: “And as for the trailer itself, it’s coming soon enough that I’ll let you arrive at your own conclusion. I’m sure you’re going to watch it because everyone is.”
It’s telling that he called it a trailer, since there’s an entire 20 minutes dedicated to it. This essentially guarantees a deep dive into the gameplay. God of War: Laufey was announced with a 20-minute look at the story and gameplay, and it is fair to assume the same sort of look will be on Netflix.
Zelnick’s latest comments will only add to the hype, with the unique agreement with the world’s largest streaming service underscoring the huge demand for Grand Theft Auto VI content ahead of its release.
