Valorant Ranks: Win.gg's Complete 2026 Ranking System Guide

Valorant is one of the most popular competitive video games in the world, and many players spend hundreds or even thousands of hours grinding the game. That’s exactly why Riot Games has implemented a ranking system, which allows players to track their progress. Below we’ll tell you everything you need to know about the Valorant ranking system.
All Valorant Ranks in Order
Valorant’s ranking system gives its players a good idea of where they currently stand within the community. To make sure ranks accurately represent a player’s current skill level, Valorant has a total of 25 different ranks, which are divided across 9 tiers. Each tier, except for Radiant, has three divisions. This is the list of all the ranks in Valorant:
- Iron I
- Iron II
- Iron III
- Bronze I
- Bronze II
- Bronze III
- Silver I
- Silver II
- Silver III
- Gold I
- Gold II
- Gold III
- Platinum I
- Platinum II
- Platinum III
- Diamond I
- Diamond II
- Diamond III
- Ascendant I
- Ascendant II
- Ascendant III
- Immortal I
- Immortal II
- Immortal III
- Radiant
As you can see, the 25 ranks in Valorant help spread the player base out across different skill levels. To get to the next rank tier, every player must progress through the three divisions in each tier. For example, if you are currently Silver I and want to reach Gold I, you’ll have to go past Silver II and Silver III before you can reach gold. Once you rank up, you’ll land in Gold I, which is the first of its three divisions.

How the Valorant Ranking System Works
Now, let’s go over how the Valorant ranking system actually works.
The Basics
Valorant’s ranking system takes several things into account includes what your win rate is and how well and consistently you perform in your matches. Winning a Valorant match will give you Rank Rating (RR) points, which will help you climb up to the next rank. However, losing a match will deduct your RR points, slowing down your progress from ranking up. Naturally, to rank up, you’ll have to win more games than you lose.
Rank Rating (RR) Points
Each rank tier has a goal of 100 RR. So, to climb from Silver I to Silver II, you’ll have to get a total of 100 RR to get to the next rank. Typically, your average Valorant game is worth 20 RR. However, the rank change can fluctuate, going higher or lower depending on how well you played. For example, if you won a match and were named the match MVP. Instead of earning 20 RR, you might earn 25 or even 30. If you lost the game but still played very well, you might only lose 10 to 15 RR.
Deranking in Valorant
Just like how you can rank up, you can also derank. If you lose more than you win and drop down to 0 RR, you are at risk of deranking. Valorant gives you a derank protection shield. Once you hit 0 RR, you get one last chance to avoid deranking. If you lose that game, however, you’ll drop down to the previous rank.
Valorant Rank Placements, Resets & Decay
You don’t immediately start with a rank in Valorant. Every player starts with an unranked medal and must go through a calibration process. Here, you will play placement matches, giving the game an idea of how good you actually are. After playing the required matches, the game will place you into a rank.
Valorant also has rank resets. This happens in Valorant Acts and Seasons. Periodically, all players will have their ranks reset, where they must play placement matches again. This ensures players’ ranks are constantly getting reset, making sure everyone must earn their ranks again.
Valorant does not have traditional rank decay. You won’t lose RR or drop ranks from not playing the game. However, your rank will be hidden if you have not played any ranked matches for 14 days. To reveal the rank again, all you need to do is play one match. However, there’s a chance your rank might change, and if it does, it’ll usually be lower.

How to Rank Up Faster in Valorant
If you’re looking to climb the ranks in Valorant, it’s a long journey. Remember these four tips to rank up quickly:
1. Play Consistently
Valorant’s ranking system likes if you play consistently well. If the game believes you deserve a higher rank, they’ll give you more RR for your wins and take away less from your losses. So, even if you go 50-50 in wins and losses, you’ll still have positive gains. Make sure you’re fully focused in every game and avoid queuing if you’re not feeling too hot.
2. Warm Up Before Playing Ranked
We highly recommend spending at least 5 to 10 minutes warming up before you play a ranked match, especially if it’s the first game of the day. One quick Deathmatch game is usually enough. It’s important to shake off your early jitters, especially if you’ve just woken up or came home from school or work.
3. Learn How to Use Utility
Utility plays an important role in Valorant. This game isn’t just about shooting – good utility can secure easy kills and is a reliable way to find good impact in every game. Even if you’re not landing your shots, you can at least contribute to the team if you know how to use your abilities properly.
4. Stay Positive, Don’t Flame
We understand that Valorant games can be frustrating, but tilting and flaming your team is the last thing you want to do. Losing focus will only make you play worse. And, if your teammates start flaming you back, you suddenly have multiple players on your team distracted instead of focusing on the game.
