Valkyrae’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day Red Carpet Appearance Featured a Major Spoiler — and a Zendaya Interview

Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter has reached another career milestone, further cementing her position in Hollywood, by hosting the Los Angeles red carpet premiere for the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day and interviewing one of the film’s stars, Zendaya.
Valkyrae is one of the most prominent female streamers in the industry. She started off as a gaming streamer, but has since expanded into voice acting, co-owning 100 Thieves, and being involved in multiple media ventures. In an X post, the streamer had announced that she would appear on the red carpet and during the event, and she interviewed several attendees, including Zendaya . The 34-year-old American host even had a major possible Spider-Man spoiler accidentally revealed during one of her interviews at the Dolby Theatre.
Valkyrae interviewed Zendaya at the Spider-Man: Brand New Day red carpet
This was the biggest moment of Valkyrae’s red-carpet appearance, as she had said she was excited but also nervous about meeting and interviewing lead actors Tom Holland and Zendaya. While the streamer wasn’t able to catch Tom Holland, she had a brief interview with Zendaya, where Valkyrae asked her one question. She questioned Zendaya about what it’s like returning to Spider-Man after her recent work across multiple genres — she also recently appeared in Christoper Nolan’s The Odyssey.

Spider-Man’s Mary-Jane replied to Valkyrae, stating that it’s an honor, as it means so much to both fans and her. After Zendaya left, Valkyrae said that she was in shock, as the Spider-Man star has been her “dream celebrity” whom Rae has wanted to meet for so long. Despite it being a huge and overwhelming moment, Valkyrae handled the interview professionally. This was also noted by other streamers, including Joshua “YourRage” Maynard, who reacted to the interview, saying that Valkyrae spoke well, and he would have stuttered in the same situation.
Valkyrae interviewed several other celebrities, including fellow streamer Imane “Pokimane” Anys, who was asked which superpower she’d choose if given the chance. Pokimane replied that she would choose invisibility, as she wants to “run around eavesdropping” on everyone. The 100 Thieves co-owner also interacted with the Cookie Monster and Alex “Alex1Leg” Parra, but her most viral interview may have been with Steve Lacy.

Steve Lacy seemingly leaks Spider-Man spoiler to Valkyrae
The Spider-Man trailer has kept things vague, and fans have had a blast speculating about what the storyline will be, who the new villain will be, and which character Sadie Sink will portray. There were rumors that Spider-Man’s best friend, Ned, may become the Hobgoblin. Some were even speculating that a telepathic mutant, such as Jean Grey, may play the role of the villain. However, these were just fans theories about what may happen. Unfortunately, several Marvel stars have previously leaked critical information during press meets and other events, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day is also seemingly the same.
This time, however, musician Steve Lacy may have been the one to leak a major spoiler. Valkyrae interviewed Steve Lacy, asking him which upcoming Spider-Man character he’s most excited about, and she clearly told Lacy not to give spoilers. However, Steve Lacy named Jean Grey, saying she is the villain but there is a reason behind her actions. While it’s unclear if Steve Lacy really spoiled the movie or was offering fans a red herring, viewers’ speculation that Sadie Sink may be playing Jean Grey has strengthened.

Steve Lacy’s clip has since gone viral, with many on Reddit questioning whether the musician has seen the movie and others joking that he may never be invited to another Marvel premiere. The interview has also made Valkyrae go viral for not wanting to spoil the movie, yet still getting something leaked during her interview. Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases on July 29.
