Valkyrae is taking a break from streaming - Here’s what we know

100 Thieves co-owner Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter has taken a break from streaming, and it’s unclear when she will return, but the reason is emotional, and fans are sending the streamer support.

2026 has been a major year for Valkyrae, as she hosted the LA Red Carpet premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and got to interview someone she has admired for a long time, Zendaya.

The streamer has also been streaming NoPixel V, the popular GTA V roleplay server, as Ray Mond. She recently ended her 48-hour marathon early, announcing a personal tragedy, and then Valkyrae revealed that she would be taking a break.

Why is Valkyrae taking a break from streaming?

Valkyrae’s break is connected to the reason why she ended her marathon early. The streamer emotionally told her viewers that her nephew had passed away, stating that she “can’t do anything”. She elaborated that her nephew was only two years younger than Valkyrae and the son of the streamer’s half-brother.

Stopping the marathon wasn’t the only thing Valkyrae did, as she announced on X that she would be away from streaming for a few days and spend time with her family.

Valkyrae talked about grief and how hearing other people’s stories is comforting, and she also thanked fans in her X post, saying streaming is incredible and she loves that people enjoy watching her as much as she enjoyed entertaining them.

Viewers poured in their condolences and support to the streamer and her family in this difficult time, with many telling her to take as much time away from streaming as she needs. It’s unclear when Valkyrae will return, but she did state that she would be out of town, so it’s likely the streamer will return to streaming once she’s back home, as the break is temporary rather than indefinite.

It’s worth noting that Valkyrae had previously talked about her brother Mark’s problem with addiction and his passing. The streamer’s comments sparked backlash, with many criticizing her for being detached. Valkyrae discussed the outrage, discussing how it’s painful to care about someone when they don’t try to repair their relationship.

Valkyrae is getting an outpouring of support from the community for this latest tragedy. Some fans have voiced their opinion that Valkyrae spending time with family may be beneficial for the streamer rather than trying to tackle grief alone.
