UFC Freedom 250 guide: fight card, schedule and event details

The UFC Freedom 250 event is on the horizon, with Stake being the official betting partner for those hoping to side with their favorites on the fight card, which has just been announced.

While the Super Bowl is considered the biggest sports event in America, UFC also sees millions of fans tune in for elite fights. With even politicians and celebrities frequently showing up to watch fights and make some bets in the process, the biggest UFC events are akin to national spectacles.

The UFC Freedom 250 event is slated to be the next big mixed martial arts event. Produced by the UFC and announced by the President of the United States of America, calling this a big deal for UFC fans would be an understatement.

UFC Freedom 250 schedule revealed

President Donald Trump announced that the UFC Freedom 250 event would be on June 14, coinciding with multiple other celebrations.

June 14 is Flag Day in the United States, as well as the president’s birthday. It’s also fairly close to the American Independence Day, hence the event’s name. It’s basically to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States.

It’s because of the event’s theme that the UFC Freedom 250 will take place on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, D.C. As for the weigh-ins, those are expected to take place at the Lincoln Memorial.

The fight will be watchable through the UFC Fight Pass. Mobile users can also download the UFC Mobile App to stream the event on the go. It’s also expected to air on Paramount+, but there’s no official confirmation about this yet.

There will also be a fan event called the UFC Freedom 250 Fan Fest. It’ll last from June 12 to June 14 and include fighter meet-and-greets, live music and more. Some celebrities will likely make appearances during this festival.

In general, the reception to this event has been mixed. Some are excited by the novelty of watching known fighters scrap it out in the White House. Others think the whole thing is just strange, especially since a temporary arena setup will have to be built purely for this. Still, Trump was previously linked to UFC 327 after a bizarre social media post back in April.

The UFC Freedom 250 event is packed with fights of multiple weight classes, with the main event being Ilia Topuria vs Justin Gaethje.

The main event will be for the official lightweight title. While Topuria is a big star in the fighting scene currently, Gaethje is a fan-favorite thanks to his showmanship and ability to sell almost any fight.

However, the event’s co-main fight is arguably more anticipated. Alex Pereira and Ciryl Gane will compete for the interim heavyweight title. Pereira is currently one of the UFC’s biggest PPV draws and is a major reason for this event blowing up as much as it has.
