Ubisoft may reveal Rainbow Six Siege 2 soon
Recent leaks claim Ubisoft will reveal Rainbow Six Siege 2 very soon.
Ubisoft had a rocky 2024. Though still a veritable titan in the gaming industry, the company has lost its luster for many fans. The disappointment of titles such as Skull and Bones and Star Wars: Outlaws has led to widespread negative reception. On top of these disappointments, the controversy around upcoming titles such as Assassin’s Creed: Shadows meant even more backlash.
2025 also saw multiple layoffs for the company across different divisions. These difficulties make fans hope Ubisoft releases something that can redeem their reputation. One of the most popular games under Ubisoft’s umbrella is
Rainbow Six Siege, and though it still has an active player base, some have clamored for a sequel.
A notable leaker claims that may be happening.
Is Rainbow Six Siege 2 coming soon?
A reputable leaker in the Rainbow Six Siege community claims Rainbow Six Siege 2 is in the works.
According to
Frax, a leaker who has previously reported on Rainbow Six Siege news, Rainbow Six Siege 2 is in active development. Codenamed “Siege X,” Frax initially believed it was simply referring to “Year 10” as the game celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025.
After some digging, Frax now claims Siege X refers to Rainbow Six Siege 2. The developers have reportedly overhauled the engine, improved graphics, and will feature new events for the supposed sequel. Although the leaker is reputable among the community, the game’s developers make these claims murky.
Rainbow Six Siege director Alexander Karpazis previously said in an
interview
with PC Gamer that the game didn’t need a sequel. He emphasizes focusing on the core engine and adding improvements for long-time players. While the developer did deny the sequel, most of their concern came from changing engines.
Should the sequel leaks be accurate, then it lines up that it’s merely an overhaul of the existing engine. Longtime fans of Rainbow Six Siege have wanted many improvements over the years. Fans speculate Rainbow Six Siege 2 will be a sequel in the same vein as Overwatch 2 or Counter-Strike 2.
Although the game will be on the same core engine, there will be improvements and new features for enticing fresh players. The details are sparse at the moment, but Frax claims fans will know more very soon.
Ubisoft may announce Rainbow Six Siege 2 at the Six Invitation Final
The event will take place on February 16, 2025, and is the biggest tournament of the year for Rainbow Six Siege fans.
Announcing major updates and sequels at the biggest esports events is common for most competitive games. Rainbow Six Siege will be no different, as Frax claims a Rainbow Six Siege 2 reveal will be around that timeframe.
Steam Charts
show Rainbow Six Siege remains among the most-played Steam titles, averaging over 50,000 players monthly. Even so, it has been a while since it reached its peak of over 200,000 players. A sequel may be the boost the franchise needs, especially in its 10th year.
