The life of Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp’s WoW Classic character Tonkatonk has come to an end during his first Molten Core raid as OnlyFangs’ leader, and that may mark the end of his time with the guild.
OnlyFangs has been a constant source of both excitement and drama for Twitch viewers. The World of Warcraft guild brings together many of the biggest streamers on the platform and some of the biggest personalities in gaming. From Twitch OG Chance “sodapoppin” Morris to esports legend Danil “Dendi” Ishutin, the guild’s roster is downright stacked.
Tyler1 became leader of the guild in dramatic fashion, despite founder Matthew “Mizkif” Rinaudo still being part of the group. His reign as leader may not be particularly long, though, and he may also tap out on World of Warcraft as a whole.
Tyler1’s Tauren warrior Tonkatonk died during the Molten Core raid held by OnlyFangs on February 7, 2025, something that angered Tyler1.
Most endgame raids in World of Warcraft are challenging. WoW Classic Hardcore raids add much higher stakes to the equation, though. Since characters permanently die, it’s a difficult and time-consuming process just to reach the level where players can challenge the endgame bosses. From there, successfully coordinating dozens of players to take on some of the toughest enemies in the game is a herculean feat.
The guild has done it before, though, but it was rocked by the first raid led by Tyler1. Facing Baron Geddon, OnlyFangs sustained multiple casualties, including Tyler1.
In the final moments of the fight, Baron Geddon’s attacks and damage-over-time debuffs began adding up on Tonkatonk. Tyler1 began screaming “big heals on me” in an attempt to stay alive. While heals did come through, he fell just about one second before Baron Geddon died. This coincided with many of his guild mates retreating from the fight.
Tyler1 was visibly crestfallen over this, with the healers explaining that their mana was spent as Tonkatonk’s health dropped low. While doing a post-mortem on the fight, Tyler1 said that he could have played better, but blamed a lack of coordination with the team for his character’s death.
“I could have done one million things better, a billion things…It is what it is. I think the problem was that everyone was leaving. I think if everyone stays in and finishes it, I think it dies,” Tyler1 said.
Ultimately, the fight was won, but Tyler1 was still frustrated over his character’s death and OnlyFangs as a whole. This only increased as other players blamed him for not moving with the team.
Tyler1 indicated that he might leave OnlyFangs and drop playing World of Warcraft following the death of Tonkatonk.
Tyler1 REACTS TO HOW HE DIED
While discussing his character’s death and watching clips from the perspectives of other streamers, he vented frustration over his character’s death. As part of that, he suggested that he might be done with the guild and the game.
“F— this guild. Yeah, f— this guild…f— these people. I don’t give a s—. There’s like a handful that are good. These WoW players are p—–s. F— yourselves, you don’t listen anyway, you all yap, you only play WoW, f— this,” Tyler1 said.
Whether Tyler1 follows through is uncertain, but this could mark the end of his time with OnlyFangs.
