Twitch Recaps Spotlight

Twitch is introducing a new feature that will promote creator clips on different platforms, with CEO Dan Clancy unveiling Twitch Recaps Spotlight and outlining how it will work.

Clipping has become a major element in livestreaming because of the exposure creators can get if their clips go viral. Livestreaming platform Kick even has its own clipping program that it uses to promote its creators, which reportedly generated over three billion views in September 2025. Some streamers such as Rangesh “N3on” Mutama have their own teams that spend millions on promoting clips. It appears Twitch is now joining this phenomenon, as Dan Clancy has introduced Twitch Recaps Spotlight and explained how it can promote streamers.

Dan Clancy says Twitch Recaps Spotlight will promote clips on Instagram and YouTube

In a recent stream, Dan Clancy revealed that Twitch will experiment with using the Recaps feature to promote the platform’s streamers on third-party services. The Twitch CEO mentioned Instagram and YouTube as the distribution partners, and explained that the clips will be selected from the Recaps feature. This means only streamers participating in Recaps will be eligible, with clips selected based on community engagement.

Clancy elaborated that the more clips a streamer shares and the more engagement their clips get, and the higher the chances of their selection. He said this program is designed for streamers of all sizes, but is currently only open to partners, with plans to expand to affiliates. Streamers can sign up by going to their Clip Settings on the Twitch website.

Here’s how Twitch Recaps Spotlight works

A Twitch blog post was published on October 27, announcing that the Twitch Recaps Spotlight feature is officially launching and will be rolled out over the “next couple of days”. The post says that Twitch is working on new ways to promote streamer clips, and Recaps Spotlight is the first program built for that goal. Stream Recaps is the main feature that will be used by Recaps Spotlight. The feature allows viewers to catch up and rewatch memorable moments through streams; the Recap Spotlight can use these Recap clips to promote streamers.

The post mentions that these clips can be shared on social media platforms, naming Instagram and YouTube as two possibilities, increasing their reach. The promoted clips will credit the streamers and also direct viewers back to their Twitch channel.

The blog post mentions streamer growth as the goal, stating that the program has been designed to give creators more growth. However, it’s worth noting that participating in the program is voluntary, and signing up doesn’t guarantee that a creator’s clip will be promoted. The post also says that Twitch Recaps Spotlight is just “the starting point,” and the platform is exploring more ways to promote clips. Some examples given were major game launches, tentpole events, and community-driven moments.
