Kaceyton Twitch ban

Kacey “Kaceytron” Caviness has been part of her fair share of controversies over the years, with feuds and legal cases marking her time on Twitch. The American streamer’s latest stunt has seemingly led to a ban on the streaming platform.

This is nothing new to Kaceytron, and the streamer’s various infractions have led to her channel being suspended five times. However, some viewers feel that she has crossed a line and are now demanding that Kaceytron be permanently banned. Her latest suspension has caused Twitch to receive severe backlash, and also sparked a larger discussion in the community about safety.

Twitch apparently banned Kaceytron for an on-stream DUI

Livestreaming platforms typically don’t reveal why they banned a channel, and the same is true for Kaceryton’s case. The streamer’s channel was unceremoniously banned from Twitch on July 5, and viewers started speculating about what she may have done. A clip went viral on social media soon after Kaceytron’s channel was suspended, allegedly showing the streamer driving under the influence and arguing with her chat about her sobriety. While it remains unclear if this is the reason for her Twitch ban, the clip has fueled speculation as the timing of this behavior seems very coincidental.

This is not an isolated event, either. Just a few days ago, Emily “ExtraEmily” Zhang was in the news for getting banned on Twitch for almost crashing into a car on-stream. The news was met with outrage as viewers and other streamers weighed in, demanding that Twitch permanently ban her and restrict driving on stream. Instead, Twitch unbanned ExtraEmily within 24 hours, sparking even more backlash. Now, Kaceytron has also apparently been banned for dangerous driving, and her suspension is also reportedly temporary. Some in the community are demanding that Kaceytron’s channel be suspended permanently, with others going further and even asking for the streamer’s arrest.

Wider context: Kaceytron in trouble again

Kaceytron was previously banned indefinitely on Twitch, which many people thought was a permanent ban. The streamer had made comments about the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, leading to her ban under the hateful conduct category. However, the streamer returned to content creation soon after; she was also involved in a lawsuit with Ehtan Klein, which was recently settled.

Kaceytron and ExtraEmily’s actions aren’t one-offs, and there have been several instances where streamers have driven recklessly on stream. The most viral may be Jack Doherty’s $200,000 McLaren crash, which resulted in a Kick ban. Many expected Jack Doherty would be permanently banned, but the streamer returned to Kick after just a few months.

This pattern of creators seemingly putting themselves and others in danger during streams once again brings up the debate of whether platforms such as Twitch and Kick should prohibit driving content altogether. This would clearly alter IRL streams as we know it, but the growing regularity is making this a topic that is becoming hard to ignore.
