Why was Mande banned from Twitch?
Twitch apparently banned Mande for streaming a movie trailer and receiving a DMCA strike from the owner of the original content.
Twitch is infamous for
not publicly revealing
why it takes action against streamers and channels. Mande hasn’t issued an official statement about his Twitch suspension either. But a fan has revealed why the
streamer was banned
from the platform.
Mande on Twitch
The fan
tweeted on X
to state that Mande was apparently watching an extended trailer of a movie on stream, and that what seems to have led to his ban. This reasoning aligns with the notification that is displayed on Mande’s channel, as opening the streamer’s Twitch channel says it was suspended for copyright infringement. This is exactly what would display after a copyright strike was delivered to a streamer’s channel.
Streaming movie trailers goes against Twitch’s Terms of Service. While the content may seem innocent, it’s still copyrighted material, and the platform takes action, including the use of bans, against streamers who stream trailers and other movie clips without permission from the copyright owner. Twitch takes copyright violations seriously and swiftly takes down most violating content while also taking action against the violators.
Mande’s Twitch channel has seemingly been banned temporarily, and the streamer should return once his suspension is lifted.
There is no official confirmation about how long Mande’s suspension will last, but most copyright violations lead only to temporary bans. The X user who revealed the alleged reason for Mande’s Twitch suspension also stated that the streamer’s channel should be reinstated in two days.
The severity of the action against violating streamers depends on the individual content creators involved, what exactly they do, and how many times they’ve violated Twitch’s rules. This is Mande’s first serious violation and suspension from the platform, which may well lad to a lighter punishment for the streamer.
