Against all odds, Top Esports faced Team WE in the LPL upper bracket final. Both teams fought over a spot for the Mid-Season Invitational that everyone expected Anyone’s Legend, Bilibili Gaming, or JD Gaming to claim. In the end, TES paused WE’s Cinderella story as they beat them 3-0.

Top Esports beat Team WE 3-0

Before this series, World Elite had defeated two LPL powerhouses in BLG and AL. Against TES, though, they suddenly lost all the fire they had in them.

WE beat their two previous opponents by fighting relentlessly and somehow finding ways to come back into their games. Even though they went 6-1 in total, none of their games were clean wins.

Against TES, things started the same way. Top Esports jumped ahead, and Team WE fought their way back into the game. However, TES was still able to close out the game.

From then on, WE fell quiet for the entire rest of the series. Top Esports got ahead, kept extending their lead, won, and repeated the process in game three. With that match, TES will now play in the LPL Split 2 final on June 14 and has qualified for MSI 2026.

Team WE’s second chance in the LPL

As for their opponents, they’re down but not out yet. Team WE is writing a fantastic story in the LPL Split 2. From having the worst possible regular season, they went all the way to the upper final of the playoffs.

WE went 1-13 in the regular season, claiming their first and only win in week 6. Worse, they hadn’t even won a single map until their eighth match. Still, after limping through the play-in, they reached the Split 2 playoffs.

That was when they made history. Team WE faced off against first-place BLG and defeated them 3-1 when nobody would have bet on them. While this could have been a simple fluke from BLG, they then took down AL immediately after with a score of 3-0.

The team that was dead last, the single roster that posed no threat during the regular season had taken two of the favorites down to the lower bracket. With TES also beating JDG, the three best teams were now locked out of one of the MSI slots.

While they’ve been the shakiest of the top four teams in recent weeks, TES claiming that ticket isn’t the biggest possible upset. That one is on WE to complete.

BLG has eliminated JDG in the lower bracket, leaving only AL in the running alongside them. These two teams will compete next, and the winner will get a rematch against WE in the lower finals. WE only need to win that match to qualify for MSI after starting 1-13, but neither AL nor BLG will go down easy a second time.
