Quintin “Quin69” Crawford is beefing with Matt “StaySafeTV” Morse, but what sparked the drama?
Twitch has always been a hotbed for controversy, and with increasingly rising tensions from current events, it has only magnified. In 2024, Twitch banned multiple notable figures, raised subscription prices, and even appeared on the news for the alleged proliferation of bigoted communities. Amidst the drama of 2024, StaySafeTV was banned for what he claimed to be “sensitive reasons.” Fans speculated that these claims are related to his history of offensive jokes and racially charged statements.
Meanwhile, Quin69 himself had also been banned in the past for controversial remarks towards women and showing a weapon on stream. Many in the World of Warcraft community have expressed disappointment at these content creators, but they still have staunch defenders. Despite the controversial histories of both, Quin69 recently received the support of online fans after criticizing StaySafeTV.
Quin69 called StaysafeTV a racist on stream, and StaySafeTV sent him a heated message. On fellow WoW streamer Guzu’s live stream, he talked about his past encounters with StaySafeTV. He admits to having played with him in WoW before, stating “I did raid with Staysafe before I knew he was racist.” The unexpected statement sent Guzu laughing, as did many in the chat.
In his own live stream, Quin69 claims that StaySafeTV sent him an angry message. Quin69 claims the message said “Never call me a racist again. I’m getting swatted. I’ve got kids.” Quin69 then goes on to joke that StaysafeTV has to be “a little bit racist” and asks him about Jewish people, continuing the drama.
StaysafeTV then confirmed these claims and shared his messages with Quin69 on social media. He sent a gif to Quin69 depicting Patrick Bateman from the film “American Psycho” saying “Cool it with the anti-semitic remarks.” He criticizes Quin69 for revealing these messages on a live stream, stating he sent those messages “in confidence, human to human.”
Although StaysafeTV denies that he is a racist, many of his critics have countered with alleged records of his past. Mohamed “Ziqo” Beshir released a video in September 2024 detailing StaysafeTV’s history of engaging with bigoted communities. StaysafeTV claims all of the old screenshots are fake or taken out of context. In response, Ziqo visited StaysafeTV’s active discord and found multiple instances of users using racial slurs and hateful symbols.
Is this the most toxic community on Twitch?
Notably, StaysafeTV actively argued with commenters on the r/LivestreamFail thread about the Quin69 feud. He had stopped using Reddit three years prior but recently began using the account after the streamer Sardaco called him “based” on stream. Since then, most of his comments have been denying his ties to extremist ideologies, such as when commenters bring up his reading list from April 2023.
Quin69 has not responded to StaysafeTV’s response as of this writing. Reactions to the feud online, though critical of both due to their controversial histories, are more focused on StaysafeTV’s involvement. Unlike Quin69, StaysafeTV no longer streams WoW, and has geared its content towards political topics. The discourse will likely not stop anytime soon.
