The BLAST Open Spring 2025 group stage is starting to wrap up and one of the last matches left to bet on is The MongolZ vs Team Liquid.
Most of the playoff competitors have already been decided, even if the seeding is uncertain. Only two more spots remain, and nobody in the hunt has an easy path ahead. Case and point; Team Liquid and The MongolZ will face off in a high-stakes match to head into yet another elimination match.
WINNER TO PLAYOFFS! TheMongolz vs NAVI – Official Highlights – BLAST Premier Open Lisbon 2025
Team Liquid and The MongolZ will play in a best-of-three match on March 23, 2025 during the BLAST Open Spring 2025 group stage. This is an elimination match, with the loser going home. The winner of the match survives, but has to defeat the winner of M80 vs G2 Esports to earn a spot in the playoffs.
The MongolZ picked up a solid top-four finish in ESL Pro League Season 21 before losing to eventual winner Team Vitality. The team opened BLAST Open Spring with a win, getting the better of M80 in a tough series. It fell to the lower bracket after being beaten by NaVi in heartbreaking fashion.
Here is The MongolZ’s long-standing roster, who are competing in BLAST Open Spring
The MongolZ struggles on Nuke but is very strong elsewhere. The team has a 43% winrate on Nuke over the last six months, but has a strongly positive winning record on every other map it has played. Mathematically, the team’s best maps are Inferno and Anubis.
Team Liquid made it to the ESL Pro League Season 21 playoffs, but took a first-round elimination from eventual winner Vitality. It got off to a rough start in BLAST Open Spring 2025 by taking a loss to Eternal Fire
Twistzz will look to lead Team Liquid’s roster to, at the very least, a deeper run into the group stage:
LOSER IS OUT! Imperial vs Liquid – Official Highlights – BLAST Premier Open Lisbon 2025
Team Liquid is strong on Inferno to this point in 2025, but is unremarkable elsewhere. It’s 4-1 on the map so far, but hasn’t posted notably good or bad results on other maps. Officially speaking, its worst map of the year to this point has been Ancient, where it’s 3-5.
The MongolZ and Team Liquid have faced off just once before; at IEM Katowice 2025. The Mongolians earned the 2-1 victory, though it was an intensely competitive match.
The MongolZ is a sizable favorite in this match. The moneylines stand at 1.49 against Team Liquid’s 2.6. This means that bookies are mostly convinced that The MongolZ will win, though Liquid does have a reasonable shot.
The MongolZ should be able to get the victory over Team Liquid in this match. It’s far from a layup, as Team Liquid is still a credible fringe top-10 team, but the recent form and stats on a map-by-map basis favor The MongolZ.
