The International 2026 (TI15) Playoffs preview and predictions

The Group Stage of The International 2026, TI15, is in the books and we’ve whittled down 16 of the world’s best Dota 2 teams to just eight finalists. One of these talented lineups will be the ones lifting the Aegis of Champions come Sunday, Aug. 23, but until then, there’s plenty of playoff shenanigans that could go on.
Below we’ve put together a preview of the upcoming Playoff Games, along with some crucial details about the format, the teams themselves, and what’s at stake as the TI15 playoffs get started. Here’s our Dota 2 The International 2026 playoff predictions:
TI15 Playoffs Format
TI15’s Playoffs will utilize the classic format for TI that has been used for years now: Double elimination with some last-chance matches in the lower bracket. Luckily for these teams, the single-elimination lower-bracket matches aren’t being utilized this year, so every single matchup is a best-of-three.
That is, of course, apart from the Grand Final, a best-of-five to determine who will lift the Aegis of Champions. The playoffs will run from Aug. 20 until Aug. 23, with a plethora of matches each day. And every single one is crucial for teams hunting for a TI15 victory.
With how important these matches are, now is the perfect time to place Dota 2 bets on GG.Bet. These teams are going to pull out all of their pocket strategies to secure a victory here.
TI15 Playoffs matches and predictions
Iron Wing vs. Team Spirit
Perhaps the most difficult to call of the opening Playoff matches, Iron Wing vs. Team Spirit sees two teams who could easily be TI champions albeit if they could get rid of the mistakes that have plagued their play. Iron Wing has lacked consistency in 2026. After winning ESL Birmingham, switching sponsors, and seemingly being reborn they promptly… lost almost everything. Despite having arguably the best offlaner in the world, Neta “33” Shapira, 1win, or Iron Wing struggle in more matchups than expected.
Spirit, on the other hand, are playing far beyond the standard we’ve seen from them in the rest of 2026. Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk and Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov are playing at the level they only seem to turn on for TI. Not that we’re complaining, TI-form Team Spirit are probably one of the most entertaining teams in the world. And that’s why we’d have to go with Team Spirit to win this, despite our reservations.
Our pick: Team Spirit @1.9
Score: 2-1

TEAM VISION vs. BoomBoys
TEAM VISION seem like the heir apparent to win TI15, given their incredible form, how good they’ve been over the past few months, and how dominant they look when they’re winning. Veteran Volodymyr “No[o]ne-” Minenko is on the hunt for his first TI victory, one he will have earned through years of grinding. Meanwhile, youthful prodigy Alan “Satanic” Gallyamov, who managed to snag a third-place finish in his first ever TI, is looking to make sure his second visit is the time he secures a win. And so far, they’re both playing like their dreams will come true.
This match would be done and dusted then, if not for one beaky boy: Kez, and the fact the (self-proclaimed) best Kez player in the world, Ilya “Kiritych” Ulyanov is on BoomBoys. Kez has been a genuine pain for teams to play against this TI and Kiritych makes it a first-round-ban-worthy pick. And for that reason we think TEAM VISION will lose at least one of these games, while still keeping the victory.
Our pick: Team Vision @1.33
Score: 2-1
Team Liquid vs. Team Yandex
If we had to pick two teams who are stacked with talent but under-perform on the biggest stage, we don’t think we could have picked a better duo than Liquid and Yandex. Most of this TL squad were TI-winners or runners up two years ago. But in 2026 they’ve looked lackluster, partially due to the new roster growing pains, and partially… Well, we don’t even know what’s up.
Yandex is another team that just should be doing better. And Martin “Saksa” Sazdov has to break out the Bounty Hunter pos 4 and courier snipe for two games straight to secure their top-eight finish. Sometimes Dota 2 teams can frustrate you, and a team like Yandex should be performing better. But they aren’t, perhaps due to some unfortunate nuances in the meta that are holding them back. As a result, Team Liquid take the series, 2-1.
Our pick: Team Liquid @1.73
Score: 2-1

Nigma Galaxy vs. Team Falcons
On the surface, this is an easy pick. Team Falcons, TI champs in 2025, are back in the playoffs and ready to whoop Nigma Galaxy back to the Stone Age. And this would be a completely one-sided affair if not for the fact Team Falcons have just straight up struggled this season. A solid B+ team in the European region and a perennial fourth to fifth place competitor. The fact the team has basically confirmed its going to be making some roster changes after TI likely doesn’t help morale, especially when the likes of Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu and Oliver “skiter” Lepko are the ones (reportedly) planning on moving on.
And Nigma Galaxy, they’re in rare form. Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan has announced he’s retiring, but there’s a distinctly different energy about a SumaiL retirement versus a Team Falcons disband. This isn’t “ah well, we’ll see how we do” then split up. It’s a last hurrah for one of the all-time greats. Sadly, we know that the Dota 2 script writers hate symmetry, and SumaiL advancing and winning his first and last TI is just too nice a story to survive the competitive scene. Team Falcons take it in 2.
Our pick: Team Falcons @1.5
Score: 2-0
