The guide to dominate with Peni Parker in Marvel Rivals

Peni Parker is one of Marvel Rivals’ most unique vanguards, the game’s tank class, and we have a comprehensive Peni Parker guide to get over the character’s steep learning curve.

Peni has 650 health, making her notably less durable upfront than tanks with more raw HP like Venom. She moves at a relatively slow 6 m/s and only has one piece of conditional mobility. This is because she holds a unique niche among the game’s vanguards. She’s a tank meant to set up around specific chokeholds and make crossing these thresholds nearly impossible. Peni requires a relatively long setup, but locks down large swaths of space, making them deadly traps for enemies.

She’s difficult to learn, but with the right guide, Peni Parker is an excellent choice to grind ranked in Marvel Rivals.

Peni Parker abilities explained

Peni Parker’s abilities are geared toward area control, slowing down enemies with Cyber-Webs and deterring attackers with multiple traps.

Passive

Peni gains healing over time and movement speed while in contact with a Cyber-Web. Three of Peni’s abilities can create Cyber-Webs, her Bionic Spider-Nest (LShift), Cyber-Web Snare (RMB), and Cyber-Bond (F).

Peni’s Cyber-Webs cannot be destroyed by other players, with the exception of the Cyber-Web radius around the Bionic Spider-Nest, which disappears when the nest is destroyed.

LMB (Cyber-Web Cluser)

Peni’s basic attack is an infinite ammunition rapid-fire ranged attack that explodes on collision with enemies or terrain.

The AoE explosion on-hit does the same damage as the direct hit, rewarding Peni for finding grouped enemies to exploit its AoE. Peni’s basic is useful, and easy to spam, but won’t be her primary killing tool. Most of the time, this is just something for her to spam while waiting on other cooldowns.

Shift (Bionic Spider Nest)

Peni Parker places down a destructible Spider-Nest at a nearby location. When deployed, the Spider-Next deploys a large radius of Peni’s Cyber-Web around it.

The Bionic Spider Nest immediately spawns three Spider-Drones, tiny indestructible spell effects that will run at and explode next to enemies near the edge of, or step on, sections of Peni’s Cyber-Web that are connected to the Bionic Spider-Nest. Two more Spider-Drones will spawn every three seconds afterward, with no maximum of Spider-Drones.

This is Peni’s best sustained damage and control tool and a large part of what makes her area lockdown so insane. She’ll want to set this up with its radius reaching into a chokehold, alley, or space with an otherwise narrow entry point.

Place the Bionic Spider-Nest somewhere that it can’t be shot without entering the web, often behind a piece of terrain or to the left or right of a door. The nest’s large Cyber-Web radius also makes it a premium location for Peni’s Arachno-Mines, and her ultimate is far worse without her nest up, so prospective Peni players should prioritize keeping this alive.

E (Arachno-Mine)

Peni Parker shoots out an Arachno-Mine that latches to a nearby surface, leaping into the air and exploding if enemies pass nearby.

Once triggered, the Arachno-Mines will leap into the air after a short delay and explode, mimicking a Bouncing Betty landmine. If Arachno-Mines are placed in a section of Peni’s Cyber-Web, they will cloak upon landing, becoming invisible.

Arachno-Mines, cloaked in the Cyber-Web, combined with the damage from Peni’s Bionic Spider-Nest, is how Peni is one of the most offensively powerful tanks in Marvel Rivals. Arachno-Mines have an absurdly low charge cooldown, and Peni players will be spamming this ability constantly throughout a match. Since Peni’s Bionic Spider-Nest is the largest area of Cyber-Web she can produce outside of her ultimate, Peni should often be spending most of her mines to make trying to destroy her nest even more frustrating and dangerous.

F (Cyber-Bond)

Cyber-Bond makes Peni Parker fire a medium-range Cyber-Web strand that attaches to the first surface hit within range, including roofs and walls.

Upon contacting a surface, Peni is pulled to the location her web strand hits and is tethered to that section of Cyber-Web by a line of web. While attached, if Peni moves too far from the original location, she’ll be pulled back to the web. This is an odd move, as it’s Peni’s only true horizontal mobility and also a durability and zoning tool. This flexibility means it can be used to accomplish many goals. Firstly, the tether that links Peni to her Cyber-Web triggers her massive, meaning she can leave the radius of her Cyber-Web and still constantly receive the movement speed and healing while tethered.

Since it also creates a Cyber-Web zone that doesn’t count towards Cyber-Web Snare’s maximum. Cyber-Bond can also be used to extend Peni’s web, usually to allow her Spider-Nest and Arachno-Mines to push even further into a choke.

It’s also Peni’s only real escape tool, as running away and jumping at 6 m/s isn’t exactly a solid escape plan. In situations where it’s dangerous for Peni to try to brute force her current position, saving Cyber-Bond to slingshot to a wall or roof is often her only way out.

Spacebar (Wall Crawl)

Peni can hold her jump command to scale vertical surfaces.

This is the same as the other Spider-Man characters’ wall runs. It’s useful to get up buildings or past certain walls, but Peni has much less reason to be looking for stealthy drop attacks than Venom and Spider-Man. She’ll generally want to be fighting around her Spider-Nest, which will be focused on chokes that non-wall-running characters will need to pass through. Peni’s Wall Crawl is her least straightforwardly useful ability but can come in clutch to escape certain situations or find creative engagement angles.

Amusingly, Peni actually speeds up compared to her base running speed when on a wall. Peni, while wall-running, moves 7.2 m/s, 1.2 m/s faster than her base speed. So, if she’s just trying to juke, sometimes sprinting up a wall is her best choice.

RMB (Cyber-Web Snare)

Peni fires out a snare made of her Cyber-Web at a target location. If the snare strikes an enemy, it immobilizes them for a few seconds.

If it strikes a surface, it creates a small AoE of Peni’s Cyber-Web. Peni can have up to three Cyber-Web sections created by Cyber-Web Snare up at any one point. Upon creating a fourth section, the oldest section of Cyber-Web will disappear. This skill also catches and destroys projectiles it hits, dissipating on hit.

This is one of Peni Parker’s core tools. Firstly, it’s her only piece of crowd control in her base abilities, and can be used to interrupt all sorts of crucial abilities from enemies. At the same time, its ability to create Cyber-Web on hit means this is a crucial threat range extension for both Peni’s Spider-Nest and Arachno-Mines. The Cyber-Web is created in a radius around the point Peni aimed the Snare at, so make sure to get an eye for the Cyber-Web AoE so her web of influence, pun intended, is easier to set up.

Notably, this can be used to make Peni’s Spider-Nest’s radius extend up a wall, over a ledge, and into entrances and spaces that are far above the nest’s original location. Peni’s spiders will move over vertical or horizontal surfaces to attack enemies, so get creative.

Against heroes with hugely impactful projectiles, like Iron Man or Magneto ultimates, saving Peni’s RMB to squash the damage from these fight-changing powers completely. With mastery, Peni’s RMB can be a one-click Uno reverse card to some of the scariest abilities in the game.

Q (Spider-Sweeper)

Peni enhances her SP//dr suit, gaining 450 bonus HP, 70% movement speed, sending her into a constant running state, leaving Cyber-Webs on the ground below her constantly, granting her a new powerful melee attack as her LMB that knocks enemies into the air, and she deploys Arachno-Mines, and Spider-Drones repeatedly.

This lasts for a long duration, during which Peni continues to gain all of the benefits. This ultimate really brings Peni’s kit together, it’s a long-lasting disruptive state that lets her charge headfirst into the enemy team, all while dealing damage and healing herself.

This ability is best used when already on a section of Peni’s web connected to her Spider-Nest. While she’ll automatically be deploying Spider-Drones and can drop her Arachno-Mines while in her ultimate, the Cyber-Webs that Peni creates below herself have no limit, allowing her to create an enormous area that her Spider-Nest’s Spider-Drones can extend out into. If she begins the ability on her Cyber-Nest, she can create a constant trail of Cyber-Webs that will expand the nest’s threat range.

The unique melee attack that Peni gets in this form is called Spider Sweep. It’s a close-range AoE melee swipe that knocks enemies into the air on hit. Between the 450 BHP this ability offers and the range extension on her Spider-Nest, this ultimate can be game-winning on its own, sending a wave of damage, disruption, and CC into the enemy team who scramble to both answer Peni, vacate her minefield, and fight her allies.

C (Armor Explusion – Team Up Ability, Requires: Venom)

Peni unleashes her Klyntar symbiote, firing explosive spikes that drive enemies back and give Peni increased durability. Peni creates a spherical radius around herself that follows her as she moves, dealing damage and forcefully knocking enemies away from her. During this ability, Peni gains 50% damage reduction. Venom, as the anchor, receives 150 maximum health.

This is a hugely useful ability, providing Peni Parker a massive 50% damage reduction, and a repeated knockback effect that makes her even better at holding doorways and small chokeholds. The Team Up’s anchor being Venom, one of the most basic and effective tanks, means it asks very little of the other roles on Peni’s team to enable. Armor Expulsion is fantastic, and makes Peni even more durable and disruptive, look to pair Venom and Peni often as frontline vanguards.

The guide to playing Peni Parker in Marvel Rivals

Peni is best when she can reliably predict where fights will take place, where enemies will push, and set up many seconds in advance.

Peni Parker Marvel Rivals

The key to Peni’s oppressive zone control is finding hiding places for her Spider-Nest that are both directly adjacent to the area she wants to corral enemies into, and also hard to be easily destroyed from the direction the enemy is arriving from. In a tight spot, Peni can always extend the Spider-Web with her RMB and F. But, the more of the Spider-Nest’s huge area that she can turn into reach for her Spider-Drones, and cloaking for her Arachno-Mines, the better.

Peni doesn’t have the raw durability to stray from her web or healers and should stick close to her strategists most of the time to both help peel them with her RMB and Q and to receive her much-needed healing.

How to abuse Spider-Nest cheese on convoy defense

Peni Parker has one of the cheesiest, and funniest, play patterns available to her on the defense side of convoy games. Since the defending team gets a head start to get out onto the map and set up, and most teams attacking on Convoy will group together and leave their base from the entrance closest to the convoy, Peni can often turbo-punish predictable moves.

Marvel Rivals Peni Parker convoy defense web cheese guide

When on Convoy Defense, run to the enemy spawn, and set up the Spider-Nest off to one side of the main doorway. Every convoy map will have one larger door, and at least one secondary entrance. Immediately plant as many Spider-Mines as possible directly in front of the main door. Once all Peni’s defensive gadgets are on cooldown, fall back and spam Arachno-Mines as possible. Most of the time, vanguards will trip the mines, causing them to explode directly on top of the squishy Strategists and Duelists following close behind. If she can combine this with a damage amplification or a damage vulnerabilty, such as Mantis or Cloak’s Terror Cape, this can even be enough damage to outright kill certain tanks.

This will become less effective as players reach higher ranks in competitive, but is a great tool for Peni players to have in their back pocket.

That’s everything prospective Peni Parkers should need to get out into the timestreams and dominate. Looking for more in-depth Marvel Rivals guides? Check out our similarly comprehensive Cloak and Dagger guide.
