Marvel Rivals has various team-ups that players can utilize by pairing certain characters, though which ones yield the best results?
In a year with games like Black Myth: Wukong and Palworld, Marvel Rivals is still one of the biggest surprise hits of 2024. Giving fresh life to familiar and niche Marvel characters, the hero shooter perfectly captures the superhero madness of flying around creating portals and eating people up as a miniature shark.
Marvel fans will likely know that many characters have interacted before, whether in comics or movies. To capture this familiarity, players can pair certain Marvel Rivals characters in teams to get unique team-up buffs.
Some players may want to know which dynamic duos (or trios) work best in Marvel Rivals.
The best team-ups in Marvel Rivals are Metallic Chaos, Guardian Revival, Ammo Overload, Allied Agents, and Ragnarok Rebirth.
Team-ups in Marvel Rivals are somewhat controversial because they can feel unbalanced. Some team-ups, like Ragnarok Rebirth and Metallic Chaos, have the potential to win the game single-handedly for different reasons.
Seeing how Magneto is the Scarlet Witch’s father in many iterations of the characters, it makes sense to give them a team-up buff. When active, Scarlet Witch enhances Magento’s greatsword using her chaos energy. Magneto can use the increased damage of the greatsword to deal devastating damage to enemies.
Since Magneto is already an extremely tanky Vanguard character, giving him Scarlet Witch’s chaos energy to boot is the perfect combination of offense and defense. On Scarlet Witch’s part, she gains a +10% passive damage boost through Chaotic Bond as part of the team-up, a devastating upgrade.
Adam Warlock is one of the more unique playable Marvel Rivals characters, and that’s largely thanks to his ability to revive. When available, Adam Warlock can revive himself after death to instantly jump back into battle. While the ability goes into a cooldown after using it once, unsuspecting players can get caught off-guard by it.
Fortunately, Adam Warlock is the only character to watch out for, right? When paired with Mantis and Star-Lord, Adam Warlock can let the other two playable characters revive too. With Mantis and Adam Warlock’s excellent healing and Star Lord’s high damage potential, an already strong team can get even stronger.
Rocket Racoon, The Punisher, and Winter Soldier have their love for guns in common. They also share the same downside of players having to reload every couple of seconds when firing their guns. The Ammo Overload team-up ability in Marvel Rivals can temporarily erase this downside, at least for two characters.
Rocket Racoon can throw an Ammo Overload Device that brings up a visible area. The Punisher and Winter Soldier can stand in the area of effect to get increased firing speed and infinite ammo. While the two characters are limited to a small area to get the buff, which could be dangerous, Ammo Overload is still one of the best Marvel Rivals team-up abilities.
Hawkeye and Black Widow are two of the only Marvel Rivals characters who are very ordinary. They don’t have superpowers, fancy suits, or futuristic technology. However, what they do have are their distinct strengths. Hawkeye can sense players and shoot their afterimages using his ultimate, while Black Widow’s sniper deals devastating damage.
The Allied Agents team-up ability in Marvel Rivals lets Hawkeye share his Hunter’s Sight ultimate with Black Widow, allowing her to see and shoot the afterimages of enemies. What makes this team-up close to broken is that it only has a thirty-second cooldown. This means Black Widow can spam Hawkeye’s ultimate to get the same results, albeit a little shorter.
Hela, Thor, and Loki are the most chaotic siblings in the Marvel Universe. Whether it’s Thor causing mayhem with his tanky health and electrifying attacks, Hela sniping enemies with her blades, or Loki confusing enemies with his clones, the Asgardian trio is a force to be reckoned with.
The Ragnarok Rebirth team-up ability takes things to the next level. If Thor or Loki are in their respawn state and Hela gets a kill, she can instantly resurrect them both. If they’re already alive, using the ability grants the brothers bonus health. Healing and reviving Loki is already dangerous enough. Thor is a Vanguard character, so the team-up effectively ensures a tank character can keep fighting permanently. Granted, Hela can continue getting kills.
