The best Marvel Rivals mods after launch

Marvel Rivals has overtaken the hero shooter genre, and fans may want to customize their experience with some of the best available mods.

The hero shooter genre has long been dominated by Overwatch 2. While Team Fortress 2 and Paladins have dedicated fanbases, Activision Blizzard’s game still benefits from the 2016 Game of the Year title. Marvel Rivals may be a new contender, but its unique takes on familiar characters like Cloak and Dagger have taken the genre by storm.

While Marvel Rivals is an online competitive game, players can still use some mods to personalize their experience. These mods only affect the player’s experience without compromising the game’s integrity. From FPS fixes to quality-of-life additions, here are the best mods for Marvel Rivals available on the Nexus.

FPS Fixes

Fans discovered various ways to fix FPS issues with Marvel Rivals, but it doesn’t hurt to have more. Many players claim they experience constant FPS drops, making it hard to play properly. FPS drops can make the difference between winning and losing a match in a competitive shooter where every second counts

Players may find that the FPS boost mod can help Marvel Rivals get the bump in frames it needs. The mod has two distinct versions, one for lower-end PCs and the other for higher-end ones. Installing either and pairing it with graphic settings determined by the player’s PC specifications can make the overall Marvel Rivals experience smoother.

Skip Intros

This is the most straightforward but arguably the most convenient Marvel Rivals mod. Normally, players must sit through the painfully long startup sequence every time they launch Marvel Rivals. Watching the studio’s name and other credits is fine the first couple of times but can quickly get repetitively annoying.

The skip intro logo movies mod ensures players can skip the Marvel Rivals startup sequence. This cuts down the time it takes to get in the game, which can be handy for players trying to rejoin a match after crashing

Disable Outlines

Marvel Rivals has a fairly distinct art style, highlighted more by the black outlines around characters. Some players may want to remove the outlines and that’s where the disable outlines mod comes in.

The disable outlines mod disables the black outlines highlighting character models. This also removes the distinct white glow surrounding character models in the character selection screen and hero menus. It’s important to note that installing this mod also removes enemy outlines, making it tougher to distinguish between allies and enemies.

CJ as Winter Soldier

CJ in San Andreas

Carl Johnson, the protagonist of the 2004 classic Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, is known for appearing where he doesn’t belong. The modding community loves adding the character in other games, including Black Myth: Wukong and even Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. The trend continues in Marvel Rivals mods with CJ as Winter Soldier.

As the name suggests, installing this mod changes Winter Soldier’s base skin model to resemble CJ. This doesn’t change any gameplay aspects, and other players will see the regular Winter Soldier skin instead of CJ. However, it’s perfect for those wanting to play as the iconic GTA protagonist.

Will I get a ban for using mods in Marvel Rivals?

Some players claim that NetEase will “clamp down” on modding at a future date. A Redditor posted a screenshot that allegedly showcases Marvel Rivals’ support discussing a “special detection system” for Marvel Rivals mods. The team will reportedly take corresponding measures against any violations. A community manager on the official Discord server has also discouraged modifying in-game files for Marvel Rivals.

Despite the warnings, multiple mods have appeared after Marvel Rivals’ launch, garnering thousands of downloads. Players claim that as long as players only use client-side mods that do not affect gameplay, they likely won’t get banned. Even so, using mods is at the player’s discretion, as NetEase may become stricter on the practice at a later date.
