Team Spirit and Furia are set for a semifinals match in PGL Astana, but is it even possible to bet on such a lopsided match?
Team Spirit was the pick to win PGL Astana. It has looked the part so far, winning four matches to blaze its way to the semifinals. Furia has looked good at the event too, but not on the same level as Spirit.
Now the two teams are set for a semifinals showdown, but bookies aren’t giving Furia anything resembling a shot to win. So how can you bet on this match?
QUARTER-FINALS! Spirit vs NiP – HIGHLIGHTS – PGL Astana 2025 | CS2
Team Spirit and Furia will play against each other on May 17, 2025. This is a semifinals match in the PGL Astana playoffs, with the winner advancing to the finals and the loser going into a third-place decider.
The previously top-ranked Team Spirit entered PGL Astana as the favorite to win and hasn’t given any reason to question that standing. The squad went 3-0 in the group stage, beating GamerLegion, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Astralis. In the playoffs, Spirit won a rematch against NiP to head to the semifinals.
The Team Spirit roster has remained unchanged since 2023:
Team Spirit bans Inferno, but has a winning record everywhere it does play. The team’s relative strength in 2025 has largely stemmed from its excellence on Dust 2 where it has a 17-2 record thus far, as well as a perfect 5-0 start on Train.
Furia shook up its roster ahead of PGL Astana but it has seemingly paid off. The team lost its debut against The MongolZ but won out from there by defeating GamerLegion, MIBR, and ODDIK. Its playoffs run started with a rematch against MIBR, which the team won 2-0.
The new Furia roster stands as follows after the additions of Mareks “YEKINDAR” Galinskis and Danil “molodoy” Golubenko:
Furia bans Ancient and has struggled on Mirage in 2025 so far. Everywhere else, the team is somewhere around 50-50.
Team Spirit and Furia have not yet played a match in 2025, but faced off a few times in 2024. Spirit won two best-of-three matches in the fall, while Furia got the better of a best-of-one during the Shanghai Major in December. Furia has shaken up its roster since then, while Spirit remains intact.
QUARTER-FINALS! FURIA vs MIBR – HIGHLIGHTS – PGL Astana 2025 | CS2
Team Spirit is a prohibitive underdog against Furia Esports for this PGL Astana playoffs match. The moneylines stand at 1.01 against 14.35. A Furia victory is being regarded as almost a statistical impossibility.
Team Spirit will very likely beat Furia in the PGL Astana playoffs. The lines might be slightly overstated, but Furia winning would be an enormous upset. It’s best to find creative picks on Team Spirit rather than a Hail Mary pass.
