Will Team Liquid Drop a Game?
The question going into this series from the community is whether not only are FLY back, but can they step up to the plate and challenge Team Liquid. Team Liquid, barring LYON, has been one of the strongest teams in the West since returning from the
Mid-Season Invitational. They are composed, adaptable to whatever the meta throws at them, and aggressive when they need to be. This isn’t the TL we have seen struggle against FlyQuest most of the year; TL are more than likely the second-best
LoL
team in the West, depending on who you ask.
FlyQuest, on the other hand, are peaking at the right time. It’s safe to say they have had a very poor regular season, with the top teams in the league putting them to the sword and not looking back. FLY in their last two series, one against Shopify and the most recent against Sentinels in R1, looked more like the FLY of old. They were aggressive in their teamfights, more than any team in the league, extremely flexible in draft, and were not afraid of the ‘what ifs’.
So where does that leave us in this series? I think TL are such a mature team that they will not allow FlyQuest to breathe. They understand their game plan to a fault and will nullify any of the aggressive plays that Griffin will try to make.
I looked around at

and found that GGBet has some of the most competitive odds. Unsurprisingly, Team Liquid are major favorites to outright win and can be backed at 1.22.
My tip: Take Team Liquid to win 3-0 at 3.03 odds if you’re really confident that FlyQuest will lose. You can also take FLY 0:3 at 12.00 odds at GGBet.
☑️ My Verdict: Team Liquid will prevail
I think similarly to the
Cloud9 vs LYON
series. This one is a free hit for FlyQuest, who will get another shot at qualifying for Worlds. So a bad defeat to TL should not spark the end of the World for them.
That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t care about this series; they very much should, but having the pressure off could actually make for a more competitive series, shifting that pressure to the TL side. It’s difficult for young players to have that mentality, however, which is why I firmly believe that Team Liquid will win this series 3-0.
