How Good Is Cloud9?
Cloud9 shocked the world last weekend and took down LYON in emphatic fashion. They didn’t just sneak a win; they easily could have 3-0’d LYON, a team that Team Liquid has also struggled against all year. They were decisive, disciplined, and drafted to perfection. But how does that match up against TL?
C9 are going to have to prepare very differently if they want a chance of winning against Team Liquid. TL has an exceptional early game and blows most teams out of the water before the clock even strikes ten. This was evident when TL last faced C9 back at the start of the split. TL is 5-0 in their last two series against C9, having decimated them at the LCS finals weekend also.
If C9 can’t contain TL in the early game, it’s going to be a rough day at the office for them. Here are some of the best bets for TL vs C9:

☑️ My Verdict: A close series is in the cards
This will be an exciting series, but it depends on what Cloud9 brings. If they are the team that dismantled LYON, they could easily win this series, but if they cool off because the weight of qualifying for Worlds is off their shoulders, it could be a quick TL 3-1. Even with LYON still the favorite, this is a chance for TL to avoid playing LYON in the lower finals, where the pressure of the big stage has gotten to some of their players, most notably Quid.
A win here also secures TL a spot in the Swiss stage of Worlds, having to avoid going through the play-ins altogether. I don’t think it’ll be a stomp either way. From how C9 coaches specifically have been communicating, the job is not done, and they have their sights firmly on winning the championship. If I were to pick a winner, it would be Team Liquid by a score of 3-1, but it’s going to be a very tight and nervy series from both teams.
