T1 Esports Challengers faces Galions in the World Star Challengers Invitational semifinals. Honoring their organisation, T1.EA is one of the two favorites to win the event, easily defeating every opponent they’ve faced so far. Against them, Galions also made quick work of their Korean quarterfinal opponent. Here are our predictions and the best bets for T1.EA vs GL.

Another title for T1?

The org of LoL champions is also a stronghold in tier 2. T1 Esports Academy won the LCK Challenger League, then went 5-1 in the group stage and now 3-1 against Cupid in the quarterfinals.

It’s not just in the results. The CL champion plays as one of the most solid teams in the tournament. While most other teams show that they’re still tier 2 rosters, T1.EA makes few mistakes for the most part.

“For the most part” is where their weakness lies. When the momentum shifts, they start losing their footing. Against Cupid, this showed in game 2, and again on the next map. Their opponent didn’t manage to punish them because of their own individual mistakes, but Galions might.

Galions has yet to lose a single game against a team besides Solary. Even against KT Challengers, the second place LCK CL team, the match ended in a 3-0. Granted that T1.EA had the same score against them in the challenger league finals.

Who will win the T1.EA vs GL WSCI semifinals?

GG.Bet has T1 Esports Academy winning at 1.59 odds against 2.23 for Galions winning. However, betting on the outcome of this match isn’t safe.

Both teams are wholly untested against each other. They’ve dominated the competition so far – besides GL losing to Solary who is another contender for the title. T1.EA is ahead in the predictions due to Korea historically being better than Europe, but GL’s quarterfinals against KT Challengers shows that this is unproven for tier 2.

At the same time, there’s nothing indicating that Galions has what it takes to prevail over T1.EA. This will be their harshest challenge to date, but this is the most volatile match of the event so far.

☑️ My Verdict: Galions are the favorites to win

I believe Galions can win this match. GL has been an absurdly dominant team all year long, only really losing to Solary. Just like KT.C did, T1.EA has higher odds mostly due to their name and region.

However, the LCK CL is a developmental league, whereas the LFL is a competition one. The two have different goals with different up- and downsides.

T1 has the main team and the infrastructure that helps the academy team, and some of them even have stage games against the best players in the world. Part of this is with the goal to train them to eventually send them up, though.

Galions’ sole purpose is to win, and they’re pretty good at that. Nevertheless, this is too young a competition for a call on their victory to be safe.
