Leona LoL 26.17

The support meta in League of Legends is one of the most highly discussed roles in the game right now. With Riot doubling down on the roaming support playstyle, we will likely see more champions added to the pool around the time of Worlds 2026, which begins on 15 October.

At the time of writing this article, the current patch, 26.17, is being tested on the PBE, with the launch expected on 26 August. That being said, “lane bullies” such as Zyra and Seraphine are starting to become more prominent. We have already covered which top lane champions you should pick, but here are the five supports you should pick up on LoL patch 26.17.

Leona

Leona has risen to the top of the support rankings in League of Legends. According to U GG, Leona has a 51.7% win-rate across the globe in the current patch, and with Riot doubling down on roaming supports, expect Leona to stay in the meta going into Worlds. Leona isn’t receiving any buffs or nerfs in the upcoming patch. She is tanky, has crowd-control, and when in lane, can dictate how it’s going to go.

Thresh

Like Leona, Thresh is an all-rounder. He can roam, he can start fights, he can disengage, and he is tanky enough to withstand the enemy team’s engage. In patch 26.16, Thresh has the highest win rate of any support across the globe in ranked at 52.2% over 330,000 games. Thresh is S+ tier for a reason; he is a jack of all trades, but also a master of those trades and that will surely continue into patch 26.17.

Seraphine

Although Seraphine has risen to the ranks as one of the best bottom laners in the game, she is still one of the stronger picks in the game. This is dependent on what rank you are, however, as Skill Capped has Seraphine as one of the pristine picks for low-elo players. She is excellent when combined with the mages in the bottom lane. After playing against it multiple times, Vex plus Seraphine is unplayable when using a traditional bottom lane.

Poppy

If you’re looking for a great support that is rising in the ranks this meta, it’s Poppy. Poppy is one of those supports that doesn’t seem like they will do well as a supportive champion, given their strength comes from being tanky, but Poppy is a wonderful addition to the bottom lane. With the alcoves, Poppy has immediate stun potential, which is music to the ears of every jungler. She is also great at securing objectives. And lastly, she fits in the roaming support category. No one wants to see a Poppy appear out of nowhere in their lane.

Alistar

Alistar rounds off our list and fits in with the mould of roaming supports. Though this should be played in isolation. Sylas has risen in popularity in both professional play and ranked. There is nothing worse than an AP assassin who now has Alistar’s ult to play with. So be careful when deciding to play him. Alistar’s kit is perfect for roaming around the map, even at the lower levels, and causing chaos in other lanes. The catch-up XP mechanic makes it easy for roaming players to catch up to the rest of the team, meaning Alistar can cause a lot of chaos even before his ultimate is online.
