Prominent streamer John “Tectone” Robertson informed his fans that he was swatted, and then revealed the apparent report that was made against him to bring law enforcement barging into his home.

Tectone has faced his fair share of controversies in both his personal and professional lives. He has even found himself banned from Twitch because of the opinion’s he’s expressed there and the drama those opinions have stirred up. Tectone is now in the limelight once again, but this time it’s because his house was swatted.

Why was Tectone swatted?

Tectone claimed in a stream that police had informed him that someone had called in to report that Tectone was holding women hostage, and that this why he was swatted.

On August 16, Tectone tweeted to inform fans he “had his first swatting.” The streamer also posted a picture of police officers gathered inside his house. He praised the police officers for being understanding of what was an intense situation for him. The content creator recommended that anyone else involved in a similar situation simply listen and cooperate with the police to find a smooth and positive resolution.

In a stream, Tectone shared all of the details about the swatting. He claimed that the police officers told him they got a report that Tectone was “[assaulting] women and had eight hostages.” Tectone apparently tried to ask the police for the identity of the person who reported him, but the officers either couldn’t or wouldn’t provide a name. The streamer claimed that the officers apologized to him and “marked his house as a steamer house.”

Streamers being swatted isn’t a new thing, as many popular streamers have been swatted in the past. As the practice has gained in infamy, police have become better accustomed to it and some police departments do make a point of marking homes as being occupied by streamers who may be the targets of prank phone calls and attempted swatting.

Tectone claims that both his curent house and the new house he’ll soon move into have been “whitelisted.” This means he likely won’t be swatted again in the future. The steamer apparently provided the police officers with a few names of people he thinks could have reported him so they’ll have a point of reference if any future reports come from one of those specific individuals. Tectone also claims that he thinks he knows who reported him this time and believes it’s a fellow streamer, not a viewer. He didn’t reveal the name of the supposed content creator he believes reported him, but said that he’s “alright” and was just happy that his pets weren’t harmed during the ordeal.

Tectone streamed his discussion of the events across both Twitch and Kick, which he recently joined as he began multistreaming and better diversifying his presence in case Twitch should choose to ban him again.
