After multiple upsets and twists, StarLadder Budapest Major 2025’s stage 2 is nearing its final rounds. Round 4 will decide the teams for the 3-1 bracket and who will fight for a final chance to stay in the major. So far, stage 2 has seen fewer surprises than stage 1, save for FlyQuest’s quick exit after a smooth 3-0 run in the first stage. M80 was right there with FlyQuest in stage 1’s 3-0 bracket, which is part of the reason fans wonder if it might run into the same fate in its game against Imperial.

Round 4 will kick off on December 1 with only three teams making it to stage 3. The M80 vs Imperial match-up is expected to be a tight one, with both sides having a fair shot at taking the series. Our guide should help bettors make informed wagers.

Match overview

Betting tip: Imperial vs M80 is a tough match-up to judge on paper. Both teams have equal potential to take the series, with M80 carrying confidence from stage 1 and Imperial looking sharp after beating both FNATIC and MIBR. But there are a few areas where M80 holds a slight edge, and that small advantage could be exactly what pushes them to secure their 3-1 spot in the end.

M80 vs Imperial will be a close match, but the series should eventually swing in favor of the North American team. There’s still a slight chance Imperial can snatch at least one map if everything lines up perfectly on its side, otherwise it’s likely a swift 2-0 sweep for M80.

Our Imperial vs M80 pick: Total maps to be under 2.5 @ 1.82 odds.

Imperial vs M80 match analysis

Imperial entered the major as one of the least-favored teams, opening at 75.00 outright odds, yet it has already taken down multiple opponents that bookmakers rated higher. Its recent win against MIBR in round 1 was especially surprising. Imperial’s last-round save in stage 1 clearly wasn’t a fluke, and its relatively smooth 2-1 run shows it’s a real threat to M80, a team that stood out throughout stage 1.

M80’s main strength lies in its consistency. While several teams found their footing during stage 2, M80 has remained steady throughout the Major. In stage 1, the team’s primary fraggers Mason “Lake” Sanderson and Michael “Swisher” Schmid both delivered ratings above 1.20, with Swisher posting strong numbers even in the team’s first loss of the event against Aurora. That level of reliability has been missing for many other teams, including heavy-hitters like FaZe, who only started showing good form recently.

Imperial may have bounced back in stage 2, but all of its wins came by very close scores. The team will be relying heavily on Santino “try” Rigal, who has been the primary source of firepower, but even he hasn’t been fully consistent. Try posted a staggering 2.29 rating against FNATIC, yet he was almost absent throughout other stage 2 games, making him more of a swing factor than a stable win condition.

The Imperial vs M80 game will likely come down to maps, where Imperial appears to have broader distribution and more playtime across the pool. If Imperial plays its cards right and steers the series toward Overpass or Nuke, its chances rise, and bettors should have that in mind. But that scenario feels unlikely, as M80 has been effective at dodging weak maps throughout the event. But if Imperial gets a little fortunate during the pick phase, the match could get genuinely dicey in ways M80 would rather avoid.

Imperial vs M80 picks and predictions

Imperial vs M80 is likely to be a one-sided affair unless Imperial nails the map veto and forces M80 onto a map where it has an advantage. Otherwise, Imperial’s chances of taking the match remain slim.

Bookmakers have M80 as the clear favorite, with the odds of the series going to three maps only slightly lower than a clean 2-0 sweep. M80 is the safer pick here, provided the game goes to a map the North American side is reasonably confident on.
