World Cup final spain vs argentina

The 104th and last match of the 2026 World Cup takes place on Sunday, with European champions Spain taking on current holders Argentina at the New York New Jersey Stadium. It will mark the end a memorable five-week tournament that will go down as one of the most exciting in living memory.

The major story has been the success of underdogs, with multiple upsets taking place in the earlier stages — Cape Verde managed to reach the last-32 in their first ever appearance, eventually losing to Argentina. In the end, though, the latter stages have been dominated by the strongest nations, with the four highest-ranked teams all reaching the semi-finals.

Road to the final

Both countries have looked strong at different points throughout the tournament. Whilst Spain struggled to a goalless draw against Cape Verde in their opening match, Luis de la Fuente’s men have since grown into the tournament and earned their place at the showpiece final.

While some have suggested that their lack of an elite striker is a major problem, Spain have still managed to get over the line in tight games with the two Mikels — Oyarzabal and Merino — filling in the role admirably. The knockouts have seen them get stronger with each round, and the 2-0 semi-final win over the favourites France showed that they have the ability to beat any team.

Argentina’s route has been a little more convoluted. The South Americans made light work of a weak Group J but have had to really grind out knockout round victories. A comeback against Egypt — where they were perilously close to being eliminated — was followed by an extra-time victory over Switzerland, before a late 2-1 victory over England in the last-four.

Spain vs Argentina Odds

Given the form of the two sides, it is not an oversimplification to say that the 2026 World Cup final is a battle between the tournament’s best footballing side and the grittiest, most streetwise country. Looking at the crypto casino betting markets, it is set to be another close match and Stake is one of the best betting options for this weekend.

The betting site has plenty of markets. Starting with the outright winner, Spain are unsurprisingly rated as favourites following their excellent performance in the last round. In normal time, the Iberians are rated at 2.30 at the time of writing, with Argentina 3.45. When you add in the possibility of extra-time and penalties, the teams have even shorter odds of 1.65 and 2.25 respectively. world cup final boosted odds

The real value can perhaps be found in the goalscorer prop market. This applies if the player finds the net at any time, and a current Stake promo has boosted World Cup betting odds where you can back either Lionel Messi or Lamine Yamal to score at odds of 10.00. Given Messi’s performances so far, as well as his ability to impact the biggest stage, this is a special offer.

World Cup Final Prediction Markets

Prediction markets are distinct from betting; instead traders buy contracts to speculate on future events. They have had a huge boost during the World Cup with the Kalshi app having more users than ever. One of the big attractions of Kalshi and Polymarket is that they cover a huge range of potential events, and these can differ extensively from simple match winner predictions.

For example, for the World Cup final, non-sporting prediction markets at Polymarket include whether Donald Trump will attend the final; currently traders give a 98% chance that the president will make an appearance. He may even hand over the trophy to the victors as he did at last year’s Club World Cup.

It is also possible to also make trades on whether there will be a delay to the match due to the weather conditions — there is currently 7% implied probability with forecasts instead looking sunny for Sunday in New Jersey, and over $5k has been traded on this already.

For this and other World Cup 2026 prediction markets, we recommend reading our Polymarket review which goes into much more detail over how it works.
