Rapper Soulja Boy joins and signs with Kick, here’s what we know

American rapper DeAndre “Soulja Boy” Cortez Way has officially signed with and joined livestreaming platform Kick, and here’s what his joining means for both the musician and the popular platform.
Soulja Boy is a Grammy-nominated rapper who first rose to fame in the 2000s with his hit song Crank That. The rapper is famous for being an early adopter of social media platforms to promote himself and his music.
His intuition for using the platforms helped his brand presence significantly, and Soulja Boy is now venturing into the livestreaming industry in an official capacity as he has announced that he’s signed with Kick.
Soulja Boy reportedly signs an exclusive deal with Kick
The specifics of Soulja Boy’s Kick streaming deal remain unconfirmed, but multiple reports suggest that the rapper will exclusively be using the livestreaming platform for his content moving forward.
This isn’t Soulja Boy’s first attempt at livestreaming, as the rapper had previously joined Twitch in 2023. He used the Amazon-backed platform for his music and also shared gaming content, but ultimately stopped streaming. Soulja Boy announced during a Kick stream after signing that he would be focusing anew on content creation.
When he was asked whether he would stream on Twitch, but he quickly stated he’s now a Kick partner.

Fans were quick to clip Soulja Boy’s announcement, and social media became abuzz with news of the rapper pivoting to livestreaming. An alleged Kick contract was also shared in a since-deleted tweet. This surprised many fans because Kick has gone on the record to state that it wouldn’t give such deals to streamers any longer, as CEO Eddie Craven has stated that streamers must instead earn their payout.
The shared Kick contract hasn’t been independently verified, but multiple sources have reported that Soulja Boy will be streaming exclusively on the platform as part of his new deal.
Kick is known for its generous revenue share split, and that is a reason why many content creators choose the platform over competitors. Soulja Boy may have also signed with Kick for this exact reason, after seeing the massive revenue streamers such as Adin Ross can bring in.
This is also beneficial for Kick, as the platform is trying to diversify and has signed high-profile content creators, including recent addition Timothy “TimTheTatman” John Betar. Soulja Boy may not be the first rapper to join Kick, as Drake is already on the platform and is known to occasionally stream there, but another big name in the hip-hop world joining up could give Kick another significant push towards its future growth track.

Khizar Mundia has been playing video games for as long as he can recall. Things have come a long way since the many days he spent playing the original NES, though. He now covers a variety of competitive games and esports, as well as the world of streaming, ranging from Twitch to Kick. If it’s of interest to gamers, it’s of interest to Khizar.
