Chance “Sodapoppin” Morris has been at the forefront of the popular WoW Classic hardcore guild OnlyFangs, and now his level 60 character is dead. So what come next?

No streamer better demonstrated their gravity in the livestreaming world of 2024 than Sodapoppin, who started a World of Warcraft Classic hardcore guild exclusively for streamers that has been proven to be tremendously successful. A long list of streamers with big followings are participating. That participation has generated no shortage of drama, as streamers have permanently lost characters left and right. But with Sodapoppin now losing his max-level character, what will happen to OnlyFangs?

Sodapoppin loses level 60 WoW Classic hardcore character

The loss of a level 60 character on a hardcore server is a big blow in WoW Classic, and that certainly is the case of OnlyFangs guild leader sodapoppin as much as it is for anyone else. If the streamer and guild leader is going to reclaim his spot at the front of potential OnlyFangs raids, he has a lot of work to do grinding a new character up in level.

World of Warcraft Classic was released in 2019 to much acclaim. This older version of World of Warcraft allows players to experience the game as it was when first released in 2004, two decades ago. There are a few modern conveniences included, and a variety of graphical enhancements that pretty up the presentation while still maintaining the look and feel of the original game, but things are largely the same in WoW Classic as they once were.

Hardcore mode introduces higher stakes by making it so that any time a character dies in WoW Classic, they are permanently dead. There’s no bringing them back. The only way to continue playing that character is to transfer them to a server that doesn’t use hardcore rules.

This leads to dramatic and tense gameplay in a game that might otherwise not have it for modern players, and it’s the crux of the appeal of OnlyFangs. Streamers are constantly toeing the line of having their characters permanently deleted when playing the game, and it has proven to be entertaining for fans.

Sodapoppin managed to level a character in the warrior class all the way to 60 before that character was felled. The error appears to largely have been the fault of Sodapoppin himself. Relying on a less tanky talent build and activiating an ability that caused his character to temporarily take additional damage from enemies, the streamer was overwhelmed by the amount of damage he suddenly found himself taking.

Sodapoppin had already delayed the start of the planned OnlyFangs raids, which would begin with the 40-player Molten Core dungeon. The delay was largely to account for the loss of numerous streamers’ characters. Now, he finds himself having to play catch up, and likely thankful for that very delay.
