All shiny Pokémon available in Pokémon GO in 2026

Getting a shiny Pokémon in Pokémon GO is an absolute treat. It’s not as easy to hunt certain things on that game as it is on something like Legends: Z-A or Scarlet and Violet, but you can endlessly play by walking around. The shiny odds are much higher, too.
At 1/512 base odds, it’s much more likely than in a mainline game, where the odds are 1/4096. If you’re interested in catching shinies, GO might be the way to go. However, not all of them can be a shiny Pokémon. In fact, a pretty big chunk cannot. Here are all the shiny Pokémon in Pokémon GO so far.
Which Pokémon are shiny in Pokémon GO?
The National Pokedex, after Generation 9, is up to 1,028. Not all of those are available in the game. In fact, several regions are incomplete in the hit mobile game from Niantic. Still, there are currently well over 900, so most of them are available in the game. They don’t all come in shiny Pokémon variety, though. The later generations, in particular, have lagged behind.
Gen 1-3

Thanks to GO Tour Kanto, all 151 Pokémon from the first generation, including Mew, can be shiny. If you see a Charmander, Bellsprout, Venonat, Mewtwo, Dratini, Growlithe, Pikachu, or Zapdos, it can be shiny. The subsequent evolutions, like Charmander, Victreebel, Dragonite, and more, can also be shiny.
Technically, the same is true of the second generation. Johto Pokémon can widely be found as shiny variants, including Phanpy, Hoothoot, Misdreavus, and Snubbull. However, there are a couple of exclusions. Enamorus comes from Hisui, which is a past version of Johto.
It was introduced long after Gen 2, but it currently can’t be shiny. Unown is a Pokémon from Johto, but only some versions of the Unown alphabet have had shiny variants released. Smeargle is only shiny sometimes, but there are shiny versions out there in players’ Pokémon storage.
In Generation 3, which is Hoenn, all Pokémon can be shiny. If you see a Torchic, Ralts, Slakoth, or Trapinch, it could be shiny. There is one small thing to note here. Recently, Kecleon got a shiny variant. You have to find it during special events on Pokéstops, but it’s out there. I happen to know for a fact it is.
Gen 4-6
All non-Legendary or Mythical Pokémon found in Sinnoh, Generation 4, can be shiny. The only exceptions are Arceus (which is not in the game presently), Manaphy and Phione, and Sky Forme Shaymin. However, there is a shiny version of normal Shaymin. Otherwise, all Sinnoh Pokémon can be shiny in the wild.
For Generation 5, the Unova region has all shinies except a single Mythical Pokémon. Victini cannot be shiny, but other Legendaries and Mythicals, including Meloetta, Kyurem, and Zekrom, can all be shiny.
The GO Tour: Kalos event added pretty much all shiny variants for Generation 6. The only few that are from Kalos and not shiny are Volcanion, Zygarde, and Hoopa. You can find a shiny Goomy, Carbink, Dedenne, Tyrunt, and plenty more. However, some, like Carbink and Klefki, are incredibly rare spawns, so they’re almost impossible to find with an alternate color style.
Gen 7-9
Generation 7 is an interesting one. Alola introduced new Pokémon and new versions of existing Pokémon. So you can now find a shiny Alolan Rattata as well as a shiny Rowlet. Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, and Lunala can’t be shiny. Neither can other Legendaries like Poipole, Naganadel, and Zeraora.
This is also a generation that doesn’t have all Pokémon even available in Pokémon GO, like Silvally and Magearna. Those may eventually be added, but they won’t be shiny right away. Otherwise, the Alolan Pokémon currently in the game can be shiny, with the exception of Pyukumuku and Mimikyu.
Generation 8, from Galar, is also an incomplete Pokédex. There are also Galarian forms of existing Pokémon that can be shiny, such as Galarian Meowth or Ponyta. For now, the following Galarian ones can’t be shiny (and their evolutionary lines):
- Sobble
- Blipbug
- Nickit
- Gossifleur
- Yamper
- Rolycoly
- Applin
- Silicobra
- Clobbopus
- Snom
- Dreepy
- Eternatus
Sobble could receive a shiny release through a future Community Day, as the other two Galarian starters already did.
Finally, Generation 9 is also incomplete, even more so than Gens 7 and 8. But among the ones available in the game presently, the following cannot be shiny:
- Nacli
- Wattrel
- Shroodle
- Klawf
- Flittle
- Glimmet
- Greavard
- Flamigo
- Tatsugiri
- Dipplin
- Poltchageist
So by and large, everything is available in shiny form. We will continue to update as new shinies are added to the game.
