Karim “Sanchovies” Dodson just got banned from Twitch for the fifth time.
The Canadian streamer Sanchovies is a League of Legends esports player and streamer who started his career by playing the MOBA. Other than his gameplay, the streamer is famous for his controversial comments. For instance, he infamously called Americans “fat pieces of bacon” in a stream, which he jokingly claims got him his third ban.
The streamer has gotten in trouble with Twitch multiple times for various offenses and faced bans from the platform. His last Twitch ban was in October 2024, for inciting violence against someone on stream. On December 21, 2024, Sanchovies was banned from Twitch for the fifth time and fans wonder what he did.
Sanchovies was banned from Twitch after saying a racial slur on stream. Twitch is notorious for not stating publicly why a channel has been banned. Sanchovies also hasn’t issued an official statement on why he was banned from Twitch. While there is no confirmation from the platform or streamer, an X user has shared the alleged reason why Sanchovies was banned from Twitch.
In a tweet, an X user shared a clip where Sanchovies begins to say a racial slur. In the clip, he barely stops himself from saying the n-word before claiming the word chicken nuggets was a tongue twister. Regardless of the streamer’s intentions, using such words counts as harassment and goes against Twitch’s terms of service.
Sanchovies seems to have known what he did, as in the stream he also states he said a whole slur. Additionally, the streamer went on X to say he “accidentally” used his “pass.” Known for his controversies, some speculate that Sanchovies was clip-farming or wanted to get in the news. Alternatively, he could have impulsively said the word on stream before trying to play it off as a joke.
Sanchovies’ ban is temporary and the streamer will return to the platform once the duration passes.
Opening Sanchovies’ Twitch channel displays that it’s temporarily unavailable because of a violation. This means that the channel will be reinstated after a certain duration. It’s unclear how long the streamer will remain banned. His last ban durations have ranged from 1 day to a maximum of 23 days so it depends on how severe Twitch deems his current offense to be.
i’ve got a question for you… let’s talk
As the streaming scene continues to grow, these incidents may become even more frequent. Even controversial streamers like Felix “xQc” Langyel point out that these over-the-top attempts to draw clips could spell trouble for the platform. Whether Sanchovies will learn his lesson or get a sixth ban soon remains to be seen.
