The rarest Fortnite Skins out there

Kratos, rarest fortnite skins

Wondering about the rarest Fortnite skins that have been part of the game? Plenty of people do. While they’re not like Pokémon cards and do not carry real-world for being rare, it is still a little bit of a flex to have some of these uncommon skins.

In some instances, extenuating circumstances caused a skin to be unavailable for the rest of time (Travis Scott), while other times, gamers just had incredible forethought to pick up an outfit before it became the rarest Fortnite skin they might come across. Either way, there are plenty of examples.

Rarest Fortnite skins in 2026

As time marches on through 2026, skins get rarer and rarer. Fortnite outfits that remain absent from the Item Shop only grow their appeal.

To let you know which are the rarest skins in Fortnite, we have compiled this list. This first section is based on Fortnite.gg’s most wishlisted cosmetics data.

Naturally, the Icon Series skin Travis Scott tops the list. The full list is as follows:

In some cases, those skins aren’t coming back. The Black Knight was tied to the Season 2 Battle Pass, so it’s highly unlikely that it will be available again. Others, like Kratos, are just rare and haven’t been in the Item Shop much.

Top 10 rarest Fortnite skins

For various reasons, these outfits are arguably the top 10 rarest Fortnite skins:

  1. Galaxy
  2. Reflex
  3. Shaman
  4. Travis Scott
  5. Black Knight
  6. Double Helix
  7. Renegade Raider
  8. Aerial Assault Trooper
  9. The Reaper
  10. Honor Guard

How rare?

The Galaxy skin is arguably the rarest because it is also the most expensive. Players only got it if they played Fortnite on a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 or Tab S4 in 2018. Those were upwards of $650, with some ranging into the thousands.

The Reflex skin is ridiculously rare for no reason. It has not been in the Item Shop for over 2,600 days. That’s the longest absence. Shaman is also pushing the limits with an absence of over 2,300 days. That’s more than six years.

Travis Scott hasn’t been seen in over 2,200 days, but it’s likely not coming back after the Astroworld tragedy. The Black Knight was the Legendary skin in the Season 2 Battle Pass, and hardly anyone played back then, let alone enough to get that reward.

The Double Helix was only available in October 2018. Players had to buy the special Fortnite Nintendo Switch bundle, which was over $300. Renegade Raider was available through the Chapter 1 Season 1 Season Shop. It required 1,200 V-Bucks and level 20, though.

The same was true of Aerial Assault Trooper, but it was unlocked at level 15. The Reaper, the original John Wick skin, before there was an actual licensed one, was Tier 100 in Season 3. More players were playing by then.

Finally, Honor Guard was tied to the Honor View 20, a $650 device in 2019. This one’s not coming back, either.

Extended Item Shop absences

Some of the above skins are rare simply because they haven’t been in the Item Shop for so long. These make up the rarest Fortnite skins out there, and there are more examples than the Reflex, Shaman, or Travis Scott outfits:

All of those have been gone for over four years. In some instances, they’re probably not ever going to return. The NBA’s 75th anniversary, for example, won’t happen again, so the NBA 75 skins probably won’t be available.

What makes a Fortnite skin rare?

Several different factors can make a skin rare, but they all boil down to exclusivity. If it wasn’t available to a lot of people when it was available, then it is one of the rarest Fortnite skins. If it hasn’t been available for a long time, it’s rare.

It’s honestly impossible to predict how Epic Games will re-release skins in the future. Sometimes, if they’re part of a collaboration, they will be put back in the Item Shop when it’s relevant. But often, Epic skips good opportunities.

For example, the Dune skins did not come back when Dune: Part Two was in theaters. They may or may not be when Dune: Part Three hits theaters this year. A new God of War game was dropped, and a remastered trilogy was announced on the same day earlier this year, yet Kratos has been absent for what feels like a millennium.

The other alternative is that the skins were meant to be limited. Kratos was probably not released with Epic envisioning it becoming rare, but the Double Helix was. It was meant to spark interest in a console collaboration that was only available for a limited time, thus making it rare.

Others just happened to be before Epic removed exclusivity on Battle Pass skins. Bugs Bunny will one day come back into the Item Shop, but Tony Stark won’t. And if those battle passes were dropped when the game wasn’t nearly as popular (like Black Knight), then very few players actually have them.
