From April 4-11, ESL One Munich will bring top-tier competitive Dota 2 to this historic German city. From April 9-11, fans will be able to attend in-person at the BMW Park in Munich, experiencing what is reported to be a state-of-the-art production utilizing the venue’s unique LED flooring. Here’s the details.ESL One Munich to take place in April 2027

Dota returns to Germany in 2027 as ESL One Munich announced

With the announcement, the location of the event previously only known as ESL One Europe 2027 has now been confirmed. ESL One Munich will have $1,000,000 on the line, the largest prize on the EPT 2027 calendar, and one of the few live-audience events of this scale on the calendar for Dota 2 in 2027. 16 teams will battle it out between April 4 and April 11, with the top teams competing over the weekend for the top share of the prize.

In their release from Thursday (Oct. 29) ESL stated that the event will incorporate the state-of-the-art interactive LED flooring that the BMW Park is known for. This, per the release, the event “will offer fan-first live audience engagement and an unprecedented, immersive spectator experience for thousands of live attendees and millions watching worldwide.”

Organized in collaboration with both the City of Munich Department of Labor and Economic Development and the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs, the event seems to be part of ESL’s broader strategy to tap into civic-minded finance for their events. In the part, ESL has partnered with local councils in the U.K. to bring events like DreamHack and ESL One Birmingham to fruition.

Dr. Fabian Mehring, Bavarian State minister for digital affairs commented on the event’s announcement:

“In April 2027, Munich will become the beating heart of the global Dota 2 community. We’re thrilled to welcome ESL One and the world’s top teams to Bavaria! Esports is so much more than gaming. It’s about teamwork, strategy, split-second decisions and the passion to push your limits. It brings people together across borders, languages and cultures – united by the thrill of competition and the love of the game.”

Dr. Christian Scharpf, head of the Department of Labor and Economic Development, City of Munich, also commented:

“I am thrilled that ESL One Dota 2 is coming to Munich next year. This is esports at its best: world-class players competing live in front of an audience at the BMW Park. Munich brings together everything a premier gaming event needs: a thriving tech hub home to leading global corporations, and a sports venue with a rich and storied history. It is the ideal place for esports to bridge both worlds.”

Tickets for the event are set to go live on Nov. 5 at 3pm CET. With four tiers of ticket, and a goodie bag upgrade available, there’s plenty of options to choose from. Stick with win.gg for more coverage of the event as it approaches.

BLAST SLAM VIII Finals predictions and preview Dota 2
BLAST SLAM VIII Finals predictions and preview Michael Hassall It’s been a long road, but after a strangely-formatted group stage, and a decidedly anticlimactic playoffs, we’re down to the final three teams in BLAST SLAM VIII. The finals are today (Oct. 11) and we’ll see the premier teams in Dota 2 clash. Perhaps disappointingly, we’re not seeing a new wave of top-teams at the pinnacle of Dota 2 competition, with the three final teams being the same trio we’ve ...

Who will prevail?: BLAST SLAM VIII Playoffs preview, predictions, and more Michael Hassall After a week of intense Group Stage, Last Chance and Seeding stage matches, and a few days of rest, BLAST SLAM VIII returns tomorrow (Oct. 8) with the Playoffs. If we’re honest, there haven’t been too many surprises. We’d liked to have seen a BetBoom or Team Liquid make the cut, but ultimately these aren’t the teams of earlier in the year, and with new rosters comes new uncertainty. That's ...

Dota 2’s new Tidehunter Arcana is mind-blowing, but prepare to spend $200+ to get it Michael Hassall Night owls in North America and early risers in Europe woke up to a brand new Dota 2 Arcana, the first new release of Dota’s rarest and most-coveted cosmetics since 2024. The recipient? Tidehunter, whose Maw of the Megladon Arcana transforms the already selachian sea-dweller into a full-blown shark. But while Arcana’s have traditionally been part of big events in Dota 2, either the now-discontinued Battle Passes, or most recently, ...
