Everything to know about Pragmatic Play’s new Frightening Frankie slot
Pragmatic Play’s latest slot release is a treat for fans of both gothic horror and online slots, blending both into a feature-packed game called Frightening Frankie.
Frankenstein changed horror forever when it was published as a novel in 1818, and two centuries later, it’s still one of the horror genre’s most iconic stories. The tale of a scientist’s strange experiment turned catastrophic monster has been adapted into films, stage plays, comics, and countless other mediums. Its presence even stretches into the world of online slots, but Pragmatic Play’s Frightening Frankie might just be the most entertaining take on Frankenstein yet.
Based on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Frightening Frankie is not quite as creepy as the book, but its high volatility will certainly keep players on their toes.
Frightening Frankie game mechanics and features
Frightening Frankie runs on a 5×3 reel layout, set against a dark backdrop with Frankie’s face plastered on the side. The colorful symbols and UI make the 20 fixed paylines feel a little less intimidating. Frightening Frankie comes in at a 96.53% RTP, offering a balanced mix of risk and reward that is typical of Pragmatic Play’s higher-volatility titles. The slot’s maximum win potential is 2,800x your starting bet, making it an excellent pick for players who can handle dry spells in pursuit of a big payout.

Pragmatic offers plenty of games across online betting sites, but Frightening Frankie is particularly rich in rewarding features. To name a just few, Lightning Free Spins, Monster Trail Free Spins, and Feature Buy are all excellent ways to increase one’s chances of winning while spicing the game up a bit. Players can also activate the Ante Bet feature to raise their stake by 50%, doubling the odds of triggering free spins and making for a handy shortcut for those who like constant bonus action.
Once inside the Lightning Free Spins or Monster Trail Free Spins rounds, the pace picks up. Lightning Free Spins add wilds, multipliers, and upgraded symbols to the reels, while Monster Trail Free Spins take players through a series of stages where low-paying icons are removed and replaced by stronger ones. This symbol removal mechanic not only clears the grid for bigger wins, it also ties directly into the game’s bonus structure, allowing multipliers to build as players progress through each level.
For players who may find this process to be less than exciting, Pragmatic Play has installed a feature buy lets them purchase instant access to the slot’s bonus rounds. The combination of these systems means Frightening Frankie rewards players who are willing to take risks, and it’s willing to expedite the chance at those rewards.
Frightening Frankie’s 2,800× the base bet may be relatively modest for a high-volatility slot, but it’s still a solid choice for players who enjoy feature-rich gameplay and taking big swings against a frightening backdrop.
