Pokémon cards are available to trade on with Polymarket

Prediction markets like Kalshi and Polymarket offer the ability to trade on a wide variety of things, now including Pokémon card values. Previously, neither market offered any such thing. Then, in late July, Kalshi added tons of different markets surrounding the collectible cards. Now, Polymarket has echoed them and added plenty of its own.

Essentially, traders can make predictions on whether or not sealed cards and boxes will gain or lose value by a certain date. In the collecting world, it’s all about the value, both now and in the future, and now the prediction markets offer a new way to get involved.

Polymarket, like Kalshi, is using Collectr to track the value. This is one of the most prominent ways to assess the value of a card, pack, or box. Most collectors invest their money in the actual product; they also use free apps and sites to track the value. Now, Polymarket offers the chance to predict whether or not the value will rise.

Should they accurately predict that the value of their card will go up, they’d come away with a more expensive card and some winnings. Should the inverse happen, it would effectively double the losses. This adds another wrinkle of risk to the collecting game.
