A Polymarket trader has reportedly received nearly $477,000 after correctly predicting the outcome of one of the playoff matches during 1Win Essence II, a major Dota 2 tournament that wrapped up Wednesday (Aug. 5).
According to Predictbook, a prediction market tracking and news site, one of the top traders on Polymarket purchased thousands of shares in 1win to beat BetBoom Team in the 1win Essence playoffs, at an average of 49.7 cents. When this resolved to a win for 1win on Aug. 5, the trader pocketed a cool $476,980.
Top Polymarket trader makes $477k 1win Essence II prediction
On Aug. 5 1win took on BetBoom with the winner advancing to the lower-bracket finals for 1win Essence II, one of the last Dota 2 events before TI. In a thrilling 2-1 series, 1win narrowly defeated BetBoom in a ‘battle of the bookmakers.’
But for one viewer, there was a lot on the line, with over $480k leveraged on a position on Polymarket’s Dota 2
esports prediction markets.
During the nearly three hours the matches took place, the return on this event could have gone either way.

This wasn’t just a quick opportunistic pick, but rather a calculated move from one of the site’s top investors. At 49.7 cents a share, the payout came to $949,432 against $480,146 spent on the initial purchase, which is a profit of $476,980.
The user, “Djdjdjekekek” is a top 150 user, and sits on rank 39 of Polymarket’s sports predictors. The 477k win wasn’t even this accounts’ largest, with a the biggest single win being $654,977 on a tennis match in Croatia.
Details about the user beyond this are unknown. Are they some kind of niche sport genius? An insider with some key info? An AI, playing the field? Or just one lucky picker.
Whatever the case, the win showcases just how a few predictions on a Dota 2 event can be leveraged on a site like Polymarket.
Ultimately, 1win went on to lose in the lower bracket, with
Team Liquid heading to the grand finals, and securing the 3-0 win over Team Falcons.
All three teams will be in action at The International 2026 later this month.
