Is Pokimane still friends with Josh Ellum? Here's what we know
Imane “Pokimane” Anys has finally addressed where she stands with her flatmate and apparent friend Josh Ellum, speaking up some time after fellow content creator Captain Puffy publicly accused him of mistreatment during their past relationship.
Popular Minecraft creator Captain Puffy previously dated Josh Ellum, who frequently featured their relationship across his own content. After their split, Puffy released a lengthy statement accusing Ellum of mistreatment during their two-and-a-half-year relationship. But alongside that outrage came a wave of confusion, as many fans wanted to know what this meant for Ellum’s current friendship with Pokimane, his flatmate since February 2025, and someone who had seemingly remained close with Puffy.

Pokimane will no longer live with Josh Ellum as she has decided to move out of the apartment that they shared, weeks after Captain Puffy’s document was publicly released detailing mistreatment at the hands of Ellum.
Pokimane has long appeared close with Puffy, and when she moved in with Josh earlier this year, fans immediately pulled her into the conversation. The break-up between Ellum and Puffy turned quite messy after Puffy posted an eight-page long document accusing Josh of financial manipulation, mistreating their dog, and possible infidelity. This prompted viewers to seek reactions from the people closest to him, especially Pokimane, who had moved in with him in February.
Once the allegations became public, streamers including Matthew “Mizkif” Rinaudo and Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt questioned Pokimane’s silence, pointing out that she has always advocated for supporting alleged victims.
Fans were left wondering whether the popular Twitch streamer believed Puffy’s account, as she’s always preached.
After more than a week of staying quiet, Pokimane has now addressed the situation publicly. She claimed that while she did share an apartment with Josh, she never actually lived there full-time. The space was apparently meant to be a convenient spot for filming with other creators. Pokimane also said that she stopped going to the apartment once Puffy told her about the alleged mistreatment, and has since decided to move out entirely.

“I have since spoken to Cara (Puffy) privately and apologized, so she knows I took what she said seriously. I’ve also decided to move out, as that’s what makes me most comfortable,” Pokimane said.
This came after Puffy went live to reveal that Pokimane was aware of the mistreatment since October 2025. However, she further clarified that she didn’t know how close Pokimane and Josh still were, so she couldn’t comment on their friendship at the time.
A day before Pokimane’s post in her own attempt to quell the latest streaming drama surrounding her, Josh Ellum addressed the accusations himself, admitting he wasn’t the best partner to Puffy while denying the more serious claims and saying he’s grown since the couple’s break-up.
But while he did his best to minimize what had been said about him, his response still confirms much of what Puffy described, including taking advantage of her financial generosity and prioritizing streaming over the health of the couple’s relationship.
