Battling in Pokemon TCG Pocket.

While Pokemon TCG Pocket gave players a welcome treat with the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, some might be wondering if they can still open Genetic Apex packs. Thankfully they’re still available, albeit hidden.

Pokemon TCG Pocket started strong with the massive Genetic Apex expansion, which featured hundreds of cards to collect including the full original 150 Pokemon. The Mythical Island mini-set fleshed that out further, and it wasn’t long until Space-Time Smackdown added another full expansion to the mix. But with that, Genetic Apex has been pushed into the literal background.

The good news is that it’s still there. Players who are still looking to build a powerful deck based on cards like Pikachu ex or Mewtwo ex can still do so. They just have to do a bit of digging in order to find it.

How to get Genetic Apex packs in Pokemon TCG Pocket after Space-Time Smackdown

Genetic Apex packs can still be opened in Pokemon TCG Pocket, but they are now hidden within the menus.

When players open the game and navigate to the main menu, it will look like Genetic Apex packs are gone. Players are shown Mythical Island and Palkia and Dialga packs from Space-Time Smackdown. There’s no apparent way to find the original three packs, but they’re still in the game.

Here is how to open Genetic Apex packs in Pokemon TCG:

While players have to go through extra steps to get Genetic Apex packs, they don’t work any differently than the others. Players can open one pack every 12 hours using pack stamina. Alternatively, players can use Pack Hourglasses to buy them in quick succession, up to 10 at a time.

Fortunately or unfortunately, the packs also remain divided up into Charizard, Mewtwo, and Pikachu. Once again, the cards that are available in each set remain unchanged.

Getting specific packs in this way is something that players should familiarize themselves with. Pokemon TCG Pocket is adding new mini-sets and expansions on a fairly regular basis, and there’s only so much real estate on the main menu. More sets will be added over time and it won’t be long before players have to really dig to open packs from past expansions.

The first taste of this comes with Genetic Apex, but other sets will soon join it.
