Canadian Johnson “Johnsun” Nguyen’s pro League of Legends career began in 2019. He became the ADC for TSM’s academy team in January, playing for them until November. During that time, they finished second in the NA Academy 2019 Spring Split, boasting an impressive 11-7 record. In the playoffs, they won $10,000 after coming in first by defeating Cloud9 in the final.
The Summer Split was another, albeit milder, success for TSM Academy. They placed fourth after finishing with a 9-9 record. In the Summer Playoffs, TSM Academy took fourth again. This gave them another $4,000 and also solidified them as a solid academy team.
After that performance, Johnsun caught the attention of Dignitas, who was entering the 2020 season after more than a year of absence from the franchised LCS. At first, people were skeptical of Johnsun, with him being the only rookie on a team full of veteran players. Despite some initial stage fright, Johnsun proved himself after taking some advice from his more experienced teammates, including support Zaqueri “Aphromoo” Black.
Dignitas started the 2020 season strong, but later slowed down to the middle of the pack.
