PGL Astana 2026 is the next Counter-Strike event to look forward to, not only because of its massive prize pool, but also because we’ll likely see a new trophy winner this year. This event will not feature the likes of Team Vitality and NAVI, giving other top teams a chance to bag their first win. Our PGL Astana 2026 preview will tell you everything you need to know.

Participating Teams: Direct Invites and Qualified Teams
Like almost every other Counter-Strike tournament, PGL Astana will feature 16 teams duking it out for the $1.6 million prize pool.
11 teams were directly invited to the event via Global VRS Rankings:
- FURIA
- Aurora
- Team Falcons
- Team Spirit
- PARIVISION
- The MongolZ
- MOUZ
- G2 Esports
- Monte
- HEROIC
- Gentle Mates
The remaining five slots were earned through regional qualifiers. The teams that earned their spot at PGL Astana are as follows:
- 9z (South America)
- magic (Europe)
- Fisher College (North America)
- K27 (Europe)
- The Huns (Asia)
It’s worth noting the likes of Team Vitality and NAVI were likely invited to the event but declined participation. This means teams like FURIA, Aurora, Team Falcons, and Team Spirit have a great shot at winning the event now that the two best CS2 teams aren’t here.
Teams to Watch
This tournament brings some very interesting storylines. Here are three teams to keep an eye on:
- Team Falcons: The MENA-backed org will be playing with their newest in-game leader karrigan for the first time. All eyes are on them to perform well at this event.
- MOUZ: The boys in red recently made huge changes to their roster, benching two players. MOUZ have signed Major MVP jL and promoted academy player xelex.
- Fisher College: A collegiate team, Fisher College enter this tournament as very heavy underdogs, but they’ll be a fun team to follow.
