How the Peaky Blinders slot worked — and what to play instead

Pragmatic Play is one of the most prolific slot providers around, and they have covered literally every genre imaginable. This extends to the big screen, with an array of branded TV slots. They don’t come bigger than Peaky Blinders, with the iconic series recently seeing a feature-length movie released on Netflix — Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.

The Birmingham crime drama once had a hit video slot available, which was released in 2020 by the popular developer. While it is no longer available to play at casinos, we thought the big movie was the ideal time to break down exactly what the Peaky Blinders slot used to include, and we will also suggest some solid alternatives that will give you a similar experience when playing.

What was the Peaky Blinders slot game?

Launched by Pragmatic Play in 2020, the Peaky Blinders slot game featured arty depictions of the show’s central characters along with a musical score that draws on the essence of Peaky’s iconic theme tune. Key characters including leader of the gang Tommy Shelby, second-in-command Arthur Shelby, and matriarch Polly Grey, all appeared as symbols.

If the game was still available at online casinos in 2026, it is easy to imagine it being a big hit with casino streamers to coincide with The Immortal Man’s theatrical release.

How the slot worked

Whether you played the Peaky Blinders game at a bitcoin casino or a more traditional establishment, your experience of the game would have been the same. It was based on a 5×3 reel layout and offered medium volatility and 20 paylines — clearly aimed at casual players.

Gameplay was simple yet creative, with a max win of 2,000x your stake. Bonus games included the “By the Order of the Peaky Blinders” scatter bonus, or the “Shelby Betting Shop” reward. Either way, this was not another generic video game skin; it was developed to give fans of the series that unmistakable Brummie feel.

Pleasingly, the Peaky Blinders video slot by Pragmatic Play had an RTP of 96%, which is bang on the industry average.

Why the slot worked

As we touched on, the Peaky slot was somewhat minimalist in its design, but this was done on purpose. Much like the show’s earlier seasons, the understated theme is not off-putting; in fact, it only added to the gritty crime atmosphere.

The artwork of the main characters was well-crafted with Thomas in his flat cap catching your attention right away. A combination of these central figures and bonus icons provided the pathway to free spins, while the backing soundtrack also transported you back to 1930s Birmingham.

As well as free spins, gameplay also included a Respin feature with sticky symbols, and a cash collection feature. This gave the title more depth than you would initially expect and made it very popular with players throughout 2020 and 2021.

Was it worth playing?

By any metric, the Peaky Blinders slot was well worth playing. The theme, layout and win potential made it open to all, but we have to say that it was clearly designed as an extra to the TV series for fans. It is fair to say that the medium volatility and straightforward mechanics did not appeal to all, which is why a sequel, Peaky Blinders 2, was released in 2023; this has also now been discontinued.

Alternatives to the Peaky Blinders Slot

If you have watched the recent Peaky Blinders movie and were disappointed to learn that the official slot is no longer available, then worry not! We have you covered below with three alternative slots that are worth playing instead. Each offers something different, but we can confirm the below games are available to play now:

Money Train 4

At first glance, you may be wondering why we would mention Relax Gaming’s Money Train 4 in the same breath as Peaky Blinders, and we understand it is not a natural alternative. However, we think it is a great choice if you enjoyed the action of the TV series.

The starting 6×6 grid offers thrills on nearly every spin, with high volatility and a plethora of modern mechanics. This includes Respins, a Buy Feature, and Money Cart Bonus Round where most of the action takes place. The futuristic theme also stands out, and this game is widely available to play.

Cash Patrol

Another notable crime slot from Pragmatic Play, Cash Patrol is a great alternative to Peaky Blinders. Firstly, it has the same straightforward 5×3 layout, which makes it a great choice for new players and very easy to pick up. The 96.5% RTP is also attractive, and gameplay mechanics include Money Collect and free spins.

The theme leans on classic Cops ‘n’ Robbers imagery, which works well. Symbols include handcuffs, cash and a fancy car.

San Quentin xWays

NoLimit City slots are invariably high quality and with both a memorable theme and extremely high volatility. We can confirm that San Quentin xWays ticks all of these boxes in its prison-themed epic. It has stood the test of time since its 2021 release and mixes dark humour with some genuinely impressive mechanics.

During Psycho Manhunt there is a maximum win of 150,000x your stake, which puts this firmly in the category of huge slot multipliers. Elsewhere, you can experience Enhancer Cells, Lockdown Spins and Split & Jumping Wilds for a thrilling time at the reels. The titular xWays® symbols can also increase the ways to win.
