OBS Game Capture isn't working on Valorant and League of Legends? Here's why and how to fix it
Several reports suggest that OBS Game Capture is broken, with Valorant and League of Legends streamers only being able to broadcast a black screen. OBS has responded to the issue, confirming that it exists and also provided a way to fix it.
Valorant and League of Legends are two of
Riot Games’
most popular titles, and they are being streamed on streaming platforms by creators regularly. On July 21, 2026, there were reports that OBS Game Capture was sending a black screen output, and streamers were looking for a fix. OBS confirmed that several users were affected by the black screen and stated that it’s out of their control, but they are working on getting the issue fixed.
In an X post, OBS confirmed that
Valorant
and League of Legends were affected by an issue that has broken Game Capture. OBS stated that the issue is likely with the anti-cheat Vanguard, and Riot has been contacted. Users were told the issue isn’t related to OBS Studio 32.2 and were advised to use Window Capture or another method until the issue is fixed.

The black screen issue wasn’t related to Valorant or League of Legends, as the games were playable. Streamers who broadcast their gameplay were affected, as the output wasn’t sharing what was on the screen. This was due to OBS having issues capturing and broadcasting the game rather than a major bug in the game or Riot’s servers.
Riot releases update to fix OBS Game Capture
OBS announced just a short while after confirming the issue that Riot Games has pushed out an update for Vanguard. Users were quick to test out Game Capture after the new update, with many reporting that the issue has been fixed on their end. Riot hasn’t released an official statement on what made the issue arise. However, users have already started speculating.
This isn’t the first time OBS Game Capture has stopped working in Valorant and
League of Legends, as users had reported a similar issue in December 2024. However, that issue wasn’t on Riot’s side, and it was due to OBS Studio 31.0’s certificate issue. OBS released 31.1 to fix the issue, and it was even mentioned in the update’s patch notes.
In 2026’s case, the issue was apparently on Riot’s side, as updating Vanguard fixed the issue. The community is speculating that the issue may have been caused by Riot tightening anti-cheat measures. However, the exact cause remains unverified.

Fortnite is finally giving Sidekicks a purpose with a new game mode
Zachary Roberts
Sidekicks have been one of the most fun, if largely meaningless, additions to Fortnite. Officially launching in November 2025, this update gave gamers a chance to have a little partner in their Battle Royale. They don't do anything, but some players quite enjoy having SpongeBob, Groot, Bonesy, Pink Pony, Ace the Bat-Hound, and others by their side. Finally, though, there is going to be a reason to have sidekicks. Epic ...
