The Nintendo Switch 2 has finally been revealed after months of speculation, alongside a release date.
Initially (and rather casually) announced in May 2024, details about the Nintendo Switch 2 have slowly dripped from various sources. From suppliers providing the hardware specs to countless
leakers speculating on the Switch 2
release date, the Switch 2 captured the imagination. That’s despite gamers having no idea when it would even come out.
After months of waiting, Nintendo kicks off the new year with a sleek trailer for the Nintendo Switch 2. Bigger and packed with more features, fans are eager to get their hands on the Nintendo Switch 2. Thankfully, they can expect the Nintendo Switch 2 soon.
When is the official release date of the Nintendo Switch 2?
The Nintendo Switch 2 will officially launch in 2025.
Unlike the original Nintendo Switch, fans won’t have to wait two years from its official announcement to enjoy the new console. Instead, Nintendo has firmly made its plans known to release the Switch 2 in 2025. With GTA 6 coming out this year, a new era of gaming is just over the horizon.
As for the Switch 2’s new look, it’s comfortably familiar. The overall aesthetics remain consistent with the OG design. The colorful controllers have become more subdued, and the portable screen has gotten significantly bigger. There’s also an add-on that allows players to convert the Switch 2 joysticks into a more traditional layout.
When is the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct happening?
Nintendo will reveal more about the Switch 2 on April 2, 2025.
Not much else was revealed by the trailer other than the aesthetic differences, and the fancy new controller add-on. The company also reaffirmed backward compatibility with multiple Nintendo Switch games, with more details to follow.
Gamers also got a glimpse of the latest Mario Kart game during the trailer, showcasing some slightly updated designs for the iconic characters. As for when fans can take the Switch 2 out for a test drive, Nintendo also has them covered.
