Davido Kick

Afrobeats star David “Davido” Adedeji Adeleke has joined livestreaming platform Kick and expressed his intention to begin a new part of his career.

Kick has previously revealed that the platform has stepped back from signing streamers with large deals and also stopped encouraging gambling content. Both announcements were met with widely positive reactions, as there was much criticism regarding casino streaming and many people believed huge deals led to streamers stopping trying.

African music star Davido has now joined Kick, and the community is speculating whether he signed a deal and if he will indulge in casino content.

Kick welcomes Davido to the platform

Davido made an X post announcing to his 17.3 million followers that he was joining livestreaming platform Kick. The Stake-backed platform then made a post welcoming Davido, to which the musician replied: “Check cleared! Let’s play!”. This is an interesting response, as it’s unclear what content Davido plans to stream on his Kick channel. However, the use of the word play has some people speculating whether the musician has joined Kick to gamble and will broadcast casino streams.

It’s important to note that this isn’t the first time Davido will be seen on a stream. The star appeared in a Twitch stream in 2025, collaborating with fellow Nigerian streamer Odahohwo “Carterefe” Joseph Efe. That particular stream reportedly peaked at 80,000 live viewers, and Carterefe became Africa’s most-followed Twitch streamer following it. Fans’ reaction to Davido appearing was largely positive, with many commending the musician for being “real” and discussing various topics without mincing words.

Davido creating his own Kick channel indicates that he’s getting serious about joining the livestreaming hype. What he streams and whether he’s seen on the platform frequently or sporadically remains to be seen, but his fans are excited regardless.

☑️ My View: This could be a major addition for Kick

Kick is currently embroiled in drama due to some technical errors that led to KPP being glitchy for several streamers. This started rumors that the platform may be trying to cut the revenue of streams. While this is unverified speculation, it hasn’t stopped some users from alleging that Kick could lose notable streamers in the future.

Despite the negativity, Kick is striving to expand its presence in other regions. The platform is already a major force in MENA and Latin American regions, but Davido joining gives Kick a lucrative opportunity in Africa. Davido is a massively popular musician, and his presence on Kick could attract new viewers and broaden Kick’s audience in Africa. He even has the social media reach to compete with the top casino streamers if that is the direction he wishes to take.
